BTW, if you liked "The Artist" you might very well like "Show People" made in 1928, also about the ups and downs of being a Hollywood star.

 

It stars Marion Davies, most remembered today for having been the mistress of William Randolph Hearst parodied in "Citizen Kane", but she was in reality quite talented.
