ello again

this is more of a question than a how do i

i was trying to recreate the building effect used in a old game known as "total annihilation"

the effect is simplistic but looks cool as it works

1 a builder bot walks to the location it wants to build something

2 a green wire frame of the to be built object appears , to keep it simple for this test i made it a diamond

3 the bot sprays the wire frame with nanobots , as this is done a fully surfaces version of the diamond slowly grows up ,

4 after the diamond is fully green the actual surface follows in the same way , once that is done the build is complete

my current problem is on step 3

i figured that i could use a Boolean cutter completely covering the surfaced diamond and then raise the boolean cutter to get the effect i wanted but as it turns out the Boolean cutter ( which is a large cube) cuts every thing out including the wire frame diamond

to give a little help of the effect I'm trying for i found this vid on you tube of the game itself
