well im back and this time im trying some organic stuff , i allready know that there are tutorials for makeing a human face from scratch, but are they any good ones for making a face from picture , iv uploaded an example of what im taking about , seeing as this is all ready an animation i though it would be easyer to start on , but after a few hours i had nothing of any real value.

The make a face tut in TAoA:M starts with reference pics so that's probably the closest I could point you to.

 

It will help (a lot) to have a side view of that face.

 

the artist has simplified most of the features in that pic so that should be very doable as a first face. But it would really help to have a side view to know more about the shape of the face.

ok my iner nub may be showing out but when i when to the fourm section to the make a face it was just one a guy hade done that was appearntly elf like , any one know the ink to an actual tutorial? i know there used to be videos but they dont seam to be on the hash home page, or like i said just total nub today

The tutorial is in "The Art of Animation:Master" book you got either as a book or as a pdf file when you bought A:M

 

That version is somewhat condensed. Colin freeman wrote it originally and although his site is down, you can still get the whole version on the wayback machine

it also has tuts on all the other body parts.

 

I think he directs you to use too many CPs in the first splines, but that's just my preference, you can always thin it out later.

This is my favorite, the "Skylark" tutorial. I've recommended this one many times and in fact just used it myself this week. It's a little creaky but still a good work process for splining faces. You should also have (or create if possible) a side view of the head, though the tute doesn't mention rotoscopes at all.
