Simon Edmondson
I recently bought a secondhand Imac because my main PC was going 'wonky'. I went to install AM from the CD and got the message that 'It can't install AM because the OS needs to be 10.4 or higher ' I think the Imac came with 10.3? or so ( you may gather I am a fairly recent convert to the world of Macs ). Is there anyway around this or do I have to get 10.4 or higher ? I was trying to install what was, I thought, AM13 although I also have 14 available. Thank you for your consideration. regards simon
bighop
I have an old mac but I'm running 10.4. I'm using the web download. Click on the apple in the upper left corner. "About this mac" will tell you the version you are running.
photoman
I am using 10.5 right now with v13 and it runs fine. The only differences between 10.3 and 10.4 is like windows service packs. It contains updated core data and a slight face lift. Photoman
HomeSlice
You're going to have to get OS 10.4 or higher. One of the things about Apple is that it changes it's operating system almost every year. Apparently OS 10.4 introduced some core changes that were incompatible with OS 10.3 and earlier. It's just one of the things about being a Mac owner you have to be aware of.
Simon Edmondson
Thank you to the kind people who replied. I am now trying to upgrade to Tiger or Leopard from the 10.35 that was installed. I hope I get it set up soon. thank you all for your time and consideration. regards simon
Simon Edmondson
Its been a few weeks I know but, I managed to upgrade the Imac to 10:41 by buying it on Ebay. I tried to install AM but I got the same 10:46 message as before. That was expected but, I thought I'd check on my G5 Macbook and AM had installed with no problem on that, even though it only had 10:41 !!!. I'm using the same installer disc but it gives two different results. Is there a way around this ? regards simon Ps Neither Imac or Macbook is connected to the web at any time, so upgrading via that route is not straightforward. All access is done through an old PC for security reasons ( that and I'm a relative newcomer to Macs ...)
Simon Edmondson
Problem solved, I found out you could DL the update and put it on CD. Thank you to all who helped. cheers simon
GAngus
I don't know if it will help any mac users here but... I am running OSX 10.4.11 and A:M v13.0t still works fine. I use it (13), once in a while, when I see a project or model file created in that version. I have the 15.0d subscription also, and that's even better. GAngus I have V14 but haven't installed it yet as I've been dealing with all sorts of other problems. Does it and V15 run with OSX 10:46 as well or, does it need another upgrade from that ?
