TSM2 only recognizes a spine system of 5 spine bones?

It's leaving my 3 spine bone system unrigged.

Am I required to have 5 spine bones? TSM1 didn't make that requirement.

What do I do if I want only 3 spine bones?

Keep in mind I still have TSM 1...

I know this is a lame suggestion but are your bones named correctly? It might not work if you've got one named "Spine 1" instead of "Spine1." It's happened to me before...

Could you add 2 superfluous bones to the end of the spine and either delete or ignore them later?

What about having two 1-cm bones in a spine rig? I just tried shrinking two of the spine bones in a model of mine (a copy, rather) before running it through TSM and Nothing catastrophic happened. It seemed to behave normally.

TSM2's spine functionality is different than TSM1's, which I also have.

So far it will not recognize the spine until I add back spine4 and spine5 bones

The TSM2 spine has functionality that the TSM1 spine didn't... which also makes it more complicated. It needs all of those bones to work properly. You certainly don't have to assign CPs to all the bones, although I don't recommend the "shrink the last two bones" approach. I'd leave all five approximately the same size, and assign CPs to the first, third, and fifth.

Hope that helps!

In general, the TSM2 skeleton does not have any extra bones. Nor can you delete any bones and expect the rig to work as advertised, if it works at all. The apparent increase in number of bones over TSM1 is to allow squash and stretch, prevent the rig from breaking at extreme distortions, etc. You can always add more bones, if you know what you are doing, but you should not remove them from the base skeleton.

Morgan and Anzovin:

Your last two statements should be included in the instructions that came with the TSM2 suite. I spend many hours trying to make sense of the extra bones and wondering why nothing worked as advertised when I removed what I perceived to be extra bones. Not everyone can pick right up on this stuff and make it work.

From the manual:

IMPORTANT! The Setup Machine 2 relies on the naming convention and parenting structure of the bones it creates, so it is essential that you do not change the names or the parenting of the bones when you place them into the character. If you do, The Setup Machine 2 will not work properly.
