Heath_Naylor
That is cool! Maybe the gold could be golder and you could do an animation, but otherwise, NICE!
bentothemax
hmm, kinda reminds me of sothing . . . o ya thats it, the pixar light I think he would look better if he were really prestine gold silver and sharp dark grey rubbers, maybe with blue glowing buttons BUT besides that looks great!!! I want to see some animation oout of him . . . plz? Ben
jamagica
The gold looks dull because of the reflectivity setting..it relflects a dark color so it looks like a dull gold..I could turn down the reflection part. Animation will be coming soon EDIT: alright, here's the gold reflectivity turned down. the only problem is that it doesn't look so gold
jamagica
There we go! Darker gold and higher specularity
bentothemax
The gold is probably fine the way it was, but what matters is the lighting, a standard choreography in AM doesnt exactly have the best lighting. Try giving the scene a sun filtering through something so that only parts of the robot are highlighted, but the whole thing can still be scene. That way the gold will be vibrant in areas, but reflective in others. It's kind of hard to explain, ill post an example if you want PS nice job though, i really like the character
jamagica
I understand what you mean...thanks! yeah, I don't like A:M's standard setting either, but that's how the world turns. Alright..I got my first animation: the bot....steps...forward. I'm still trying to get the hang of animation, so bare w/ me bot_step.mov
jamagica
Alright...I tweaked anticipation so it was projected much more. Pass two posted below bot_step.mov
jamagica
alright...I made the whole thing a bit more snappy. I feel that the middle of the action is too linear, I think I'll add some arcs bot_step_snappy.mov
bentothemax
nice . . . it really brings across a certain type of emtion from a deadish thing . . . I like it
jamagica
deadish? you mean like it doesn't look alive or it's the type of character that looks dead
bentothemax
I couldnt find the right word, but i mean robotic . . . the character looks very much alive
rossk
That's looking really good, especially for "still trying to get the hang of animation" as you said earlier. Did you make this character for a story or just practice? Looking forward to seeing more, --Ross
jamagica
It was originally for practice but now that I realize how much time I spent on it, I'll probably end up using it in a film
