  1. Something like this is easily done in any Mac system.

Unfortunately, it's not as easy in a "windows" system and perhaps one of the many things

about OSX that makes it nice using a Mac.

    1) Get a "screen grab" of what you want your Icon to be .

    2) Open the "Get Info" window on the model file. (equivalent to PC properties window)

    3) Click (i.e.;select) the current Icon

    4) Then just copy/paste the screen grab and you have a new Icon for that file.

The "screen grab" just overwrites the original and it sticks.

Somehow the Mac system transparently deals with any sizing issues and it "just works".

I would think that with all the software out there there has to be something available for PC's

that can assist with this. A simple google on "icon editor windows free" brings up all kinds

    of possibilities.

  2. My copy arrived and I read it cover to cover the first time I opened it.

With already reading the first ten teaser pages, I was very anxious to see what was going to happen.

It really holds your attention. A lot of suspense going on. You did that very well.

    Very nice little story indeed.

Not as a spoiler, but I enjoyed the (kind-of) surprise ending too and felt… well… relieved…. actually.

I was particularly Impressed with the amount of well done drawings in there.

You appear to have developed your talents very well.

    Wow, a 100 page comic book !

Perhaps a "short story" candidate or "mini-novel" I would say.

Quite an accomplishment you have there.

    Thanks

  3. ... V18 will also be avaible for OSX...

    :) :) :)

Yes, I too, am saddened to read the news about the Mac versions of A:M.

I fully appreciate Hashs' situation and am happy to have been using A:M all these years and I still have most of the CD/DVD versions back to 2002. I have an old G4 PowerMac MMD (2003 vintage) that I use A:M with, but they dropped the PowerMac support at about Vers.14c, at which time I kept current for a while with A:M on an old windows Laptop with WinXP.

I would be considered a hobbyist at best, but I find this type of software quite fascinating and still enjoy working with A:M and a few other CAD/3D Apps. I visit the forums daily to keep up with things and do apologize for not participating that much. My day job keeps me hopping and at 72 it gets harder and harder getting up on those ladders every day. I do exterior house painting, 45 years now.

I finally treated myself to a new iMac this summer and Hash was nice enough to allow me to transfer my current PC subscription over to it without any additional charge. A:M works quite well on OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.5). It even loads most of my old A:M Models/Projects from many years ago.

I chose to hold-off on the latest Apple update and glad of it, with the thousands of posts I see on the Apple forums. Although, it seems, that there are even many thousands more, who have been totally successful with the upgrade. Mostly those with newer machines.

Actually, I plan to get an external drive and dual-boot Mavericks for a while and migrate over to it over time, after they get some of the bugs fixed, and there are definitely a few in there. After all, it is a XX.0 release and it should be expected.

I plan to use any Mac A:M versions that remain available to the end.

    Long Live Hash & A:M.

    P.S. Yay Stephen

  4. I'm a little disappointed in the "Look Inside" feature for Sister Mary Dracula on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/1493543164/ref=rdr_ext_tmb . Whatever image conversion they use does not treat gradients very well so there's a lot of banding. If you want a better preview of the artwork, I still have the first ten pages up as a sample over here: http://www.sistermarydracula.com/SMDsample...md_ch1_pg0.html

    Hey, Gerry….

I just explored the 10-page teaser and that looks really neat !!!

Hey man, you're gonna be famous !!

The 'story line' has got a grip on me.

Can't wait to read the rest of it.

Looks like it'll get here about next week.

    Thanks

    Jerry A.

  5. Just to add another Macs' info for comparison.

    3:08

    iMac Core i5 (Late 2012) 21.5"

    2.7 GHz Intel

6 MB shared level 3 cache,

    8 GB of 1600 MHz DDR3 SDRAM

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M / 512 MB GDDR5 Mem

I followed RobCats' guidelines from the first post

and it does seem like a pretty good time.

  6. Hi Gerry, nope I sketched these frames on paper then shot the as a stop-motion movie with my little Nikon. Pretty low tech!

I just tried a more elaborate "sneaky" walk cycle but got ahead of myself and messed it up, but I'll try to post more like this.

As I recall now, there's the method where you can drag/drop a Sequence of frames on a camera in a chor., although even here, with my new 21" iMac, it's a bit finicky and frames drop occasionally.

None-the-less, it's a visually rewarding process when it works. The old new-tech method?

Perhaps a series of same sized, grid-ed pages in Gimp (or some other) to draw and save a sequence?, which I think I may try.

Great fun, if you can draw well enough too.

To me, It almost suggests an A:M request for some method/module to create this simple process.

Don't worry about the PRJ, thats where all the work is and I should be doing my own.

    Thanks Gerry, Jerry

  7. I copied these frames from a sketched run cycle I found with a Google search, but I changed the proportions of the cat to be fat with stubby legs, then made this quickie movie to see the end result.

So Gerry, your rendered final is animated roto's ?

or, could you perhaps share the Prj file ?

  8. I'm impressed with the amount of work put into the new mascot, however I'm not fond of having to look at her butt everyday as I log into the software.

Is there anyway to set a different splash image on my local system?

I have not been very active in the forums lately but still lurk almost daily

and am enjoying the latest subscription, for sure.

I just felt compelled to add something here.

Yes, the current splash IS a high quality model indeed, and won out in the competition,

but I have to side with "SEM_Kids" on this.

IMO, A:M could use a better Brand / Identification certainly with it's opening screen.

Something with a bit more universal appeal.

  9. @Gerry from Jerry (GAngus), and Y'all

Long Island, NY, the coastal area - that is... is a major disaster, all the way out to Montauk Point.

Many homes within a 1 mile distance from the ocean and those that are even only on the numerous bay areas are totaled out. I have spoken with many people who live there and many of them have had 4-5 feet of water in / on the main floor. And the basement is full if there is one.

In Freeport one house had THREE 25-30 footers on their front lawn. Boats that had drifted away from marinas during the flooding.

No older homes are built up on pilings. A few of the newer ones are, but not many at all.

I know, down in "the Keys" it's actually part of the building code for all new homes MUST be up 10 feet on cement pilings. Yet down there there are still many "existing" older homes that are on ground level too.

Central LI is quite a mess also, MANY signal lights are still out and the lines at gas stations extend for blocks, all day long, many just trying to get gas for their generators.

Driving is generally dangerous and there are MANY large trees down as well as electrical poles too.

It will take weeks or even months in some areas before there is any semblance of normality.

Many people have lost Everything with their homes totally gone.

I would say that at least 1/2 of the Island is still without power at this point in time.

I was so lucky. I Lost power monday night and it's been back on since tuesday afternoon.

Just across the street from me is still out. Kind of bizarre with that. Someone said to me that they actually used odd/even house numbering to decide who gets power back. I have not been able to verify that yet, but there are a lot of streets where this condition does exist.

I have my legal shotgun all cleaned up and right by the front door, just in case.

And now the taxes will go up again, probably.

God help us all, everyone. Like tiny tim said.

I would love to move back to Kansas where I went to college sometimes except for the tornadoes.

    Jerry "GAngus"

P.S. Yeah, old NYNJA guy Dennis Borruso " countfrogula AT yahoo.com" is still "alive n kickin" with his many ventures.

Pretty sure he does that FaceBook thing too.

And Mike Stamm (lukbat) .. who went with 3DS Max and has a nice web site still. (ebon dot org).

  10. As you can see most of the south shore on Long Island is only 1-2 meters in elevation.

This includes ~ 5-10 miles inland from the sea shore.

Freeport is the worst, it floods out there with only 1-2 inches on a bad rainy day.

The highest point on the Island is near Huntington at only 411 feet.

Historical note; That's about where Walt Whitmans house was located.

    litopo.png

  11. Well.... I guess I was lucky here. And am counting my blessings.

A few big tree limbs down and some large trees in the neighborhood.

Worst all is/was the power outage. Many others still "out".

How strange the silence is in the darkness for 20 hours (my house).

Thankful for my new iPhone, no wifi, but I was ok for phone calls.

I Found myself reading some old sci-fi short stories by candle light.

I'm centrally (north-south-wise) located on Long Island but the south shore

really took a serious beating. A couple friends in Long Beach lost everything

with the flooding. Just horrible there.

What horrifies me most, is like in lower Manhattan, where there is still no power. Like people living in 18th floor apartments with no elevators, no water, nothing ! OMG!

There's thousands of residents who will become desperate there soon and now the

looting has begun on top of that. It'll be like the wild west there soon.

It's the worst weather event I have ever been in and I have lived here in this house 60 years.

New Jersey was probably the worst hit, Obama is to visit there today.

Mother Nature can be a real bitch, when she wants to.

    Angus

  12. Wow, doing a new roof on that house will be a monumental project, even for the most experienced roofing specialist, for sure. The "slopes" are pretty severe and there may be no walking around way up there for them. They will use those moveable planks that they have and work there way up from the bottom to the top.

Consider securing a line (a heavy rope will do) from chimney-top to chimney-top and drape the tarps over it, perhaps on just only that one long span.

Most tarps have good eyelets and 2 of them connected at the eyelets (or more points) could make one larger tarp ?

Good "roofers" work very fast. I have seen roofs like that done in 3 days, from start to finish. Just get tight with the weather forecast and carve out a 2-3 day optimal time for doing it.

    Good luck.

  13. The standard Mac OS Utility called "Font Book" can and should be used to install, and validate new fonts.

Fonts can be quirky things, especially ones you find and install yourself, as there are many variations of file types out there.

Also, be sure to restart your system after installing a new font.

The OS likes to keep control of things like fonts and puts them in special places so they work properly, ie; cashes, etc.

I should think that any font you can see and use in another Mac application, should be usable in A:M also.

  14. When I highlight a group of CPs, the selection square is a soft green and the CPs are still quite visible.

It is also the exact same green when I highlight some text, say, like, when I am renaming something....

Now, I am on a Mac here, but I do notice (also) that this "highlight" color is tied to my system preferences in my Appearances section.

I know in Win XP /Control Panels/Appearance & Themes/Display Properties you can customize all these color settings.

I see you are running Vista (in your profile).

You could explore this in you system there and see if you can change it that way.

I could be wrong about this so, be sure to make a note of your existing settings BEFORE you change anything system-wise.

Please let us know if you have any success with this.
