I have just heard from one of my contract programmers that there is an issue witht he latest version of Quickfind that causes problems due to code changes related to DRM's etc. Reports are that Rendering to QF (such as After Effects) is slowed and crashes out. - Unconfirmed but beware.
News here:

"witht he latest version of Quickfind"
I'm sure you meant "QuickTime" here right ?
If so yes, Quicktime for Mac 7.1.4 has proven to be a real monster for many.
All sorts of issues noted in the Apple/support/discussions/forums.
Me, well, many QT movie plays just choke about half way through.. hope they will improve it soon.

Thanks for the replies. A running cycle is easy to find. A walking cycle is not. That is the one I need. I'm just going to have to buckle down and do it!
Thanks Again.
here's another horse just walking....

Hello all,
I need to use the horse from the 2006 CD, but I need a walk cycle. There is a run cycle, and other items. Anyone have any links, resources for creating a walk cycle for a horse? I have the CD, and the model. I need to figureout the walk.
Thanks
Here's a PDF horse run sequence you could play with, not sure where I got it from.

WOOT! my hunch is paying off. Basically I modeled the sewer grate so i could do a screen render, and take a snap shot of said render and use it in Photo Shop as a tile to make another more elaborate floor. First test is pretty good, needs some finessing but for a first try, I'm happy. I'm basically making an environment for my female model, walk cycles are fine stand alone actions, but actions like sneaking, running and jumping look weird out of context, so I want to give her a set to act in.
Yeah, I recall the tedium ,also, of doing those type of models too.
I remember using that duplicator plug-in in A:M for some of it (somehow) which cut down on the time it took to create.
The results were worth it in your render here.
Not to steal the thread here but, here's the one I did, just to illustrate the/your point.

BRAVO !! BRAVISSIMO !!!!
Beautiful songs ... I'm speechless to describe how proud I´m to participate in this project ...
Thanks all
I agree....
Indeed, Epic quality sounding score here....
My compliments for this, so rich sounding contribution....
Full sounding, and well worthy of the project at hand.....
Å wonderful compliment to an already fabulous film, in the works.
I only hope that there will be someone who can piece it all together and do the final edit, to work the music into just the right places.
After all, there's a story to tell... first.
The music is there to . . . perhaps, reinforce it, right ?
Just great material here to work with.
Thank You so much, and please GO FOR IT guys. !!!

Yes, terrific animation job.
renaming to mpg, mpeg still didn't work with QT here on my G4 Mac but,
mpeg worked after I gave it to VLC player.
Simple, and point well made.
Unfortunately, back over a pack a day lately...

Site not found, hello ?

Remarks/Suggestions: I enjoyed doing this exercise but got a bit frustrated when i the paste mirrored function didn't work. I think i will need to come back to it at a later date as the hand actions are a bit jerky.
What do you think?

Hi guys,
Hey, I hijacked that tip for trying Inkscape.
Got it downloaded, but when I try to run the app., it just briefly pops on the screen as if to start up, but then it dies, and I end up looking at a unix-like terminal window in X11. No error messages indicated.
The version I got says 0.45+devel (stands for development?).
Note, on Mac OSX 10.4.9 here G4 Box
Would any of you know what I might need to do to get Inkscape working from this point ?
Guess I should really ask this over at the Inkscape site, and plan to, but thought I would give it a shot here .
Thanks for any clues.

You import the rig as a model into the model. So right click and select Import->Model and then go to the posable rig in the Rig Along With Me/Models folder (that you download from the "Getting Started" thread.)
OK, thanks for that Largento. That works for me here.
That gets me back on track with the "Getting Started" tut.
I'm still curious about which InstallRig.hxt version I should have installed for 13s or B2 with my Mac.
I have since discovered a 3rd one dated 11-14-05 which I think was in the Rig_Along_With_Me downloaded folder.
Perhaps its as simple as I should just use the newest one, and leave it at that. right ?
Again, can any Mac users confirm which vers. they are using (date?)
Thanks
EDIT- sorry I inserted this in the wrong thread.

I hope this is a good place for this question, anyway, here goes....
OK, I am getting started on The "Rig Along with me thread/project".
I have downloaded all the "steps" and started a new project using "Rig_Along_With_Me" using "JD_no_bones".
One of the first steps is:
"Right click in a blank space in the modeling window and import the "13s_Posable_Five_Finger_Squetch_Rig_04_29_2007_installation" rig.
I got to this point in wizards/plugs and nothing happens. Nothing.
I would expect I would have to point AM to someplace on my hard drive where the rig was and allow it to load or some thing but I get NO response at all here.
Please note, I am using a Mac OSX 10.4.9 and for information sake I have in my HXT folders:
AM 13.0s InstallRig.hxt Created-Modified-& Last opened 1/23/07. (from 2007 Hash CD)?
also, but have not tried it, I have
in HXT folder... AM 14.0 Beta 2 InstallRig.hxt Created-Modified-& Last opened 4/11/07
Today, I downloaded another HXT from the WIKI with dates: 1/31/06.
So, David, can you help me here, (?) OR, if any OSX users see this post, and have been successful with this up to now, could you please let me know what version you are using ?
thanks.

Ahhh, great modle.
Will be watching your progress with intrerest.
I Love these working/animated mechanicals.
Brings back great memories of my mechanical drawing classes in High School.
Will there be a cylinder wall for the piston, with perhaps a cut away in the wall so the motions of the piston can still be seen.
Perhaps that's not part of the plan but just a thought.
Great job, nice metalics.

Very cool there.
So, not to over simplfy that great clip but
Basically, that's a 3D model placed in a Chor
and you animate the camera to fly in and display what it sees on it's trip
right ?
-
Hey, I'm not seeing any active model tag to view the file with.
Was it there in the first post of this thread ?
It doesn't seem to be there now.
Or is it my browser problem?
Anyone confirm?

Thanks. This tutorial looks pretty good. I'll have to sink my teeth in it tomorrow though. My eyes are about to fall out of my sockets from staring at the computer screen so intently for hours.
Absolutely, excellent tutorial here.
The quality and completeness of this tutorial is great.
IMHO, it, or it's information should be somehow included in the TaoAM Manual.
I first struggeled with AM for months and months, if not years, before understanding these simple concepts.
Thanks so much here.

There is a keyboard command, where you just hit "1" on the number key pad and it switches/toggeles to the next camera view.
Just in case yoy didn't know about it.

It's not easy finding people to group with.
Here's a clue if you want it.
http://www.meetup.com/cities/us/wi/
Many cities in Wisconsin are listed here. One may be close to where you are.
They may be Groups that you are not interested in, maby there are.
Meetup.com is a potentially good place to get envolved.
If there is nothing for the AM topic.... Start one ! and they will come.
Go for it.

"you'll apply a sin curve animation to the first bone you want to animate. You'll apply something like this... Sin(GetTime()*2)*50 ... to the RotateY transform."
Ah, that's what I wanted.
Thanks ... that demystifies it a bit and gives me a place to start.
On ... what I am sure, will be an interesting adventure into the math part of how to control bones to animate a model.
I find this truly fascinating somehow but am not really a math-head but then probably just a wannabee, a little.
Will give a shot.... later

"a cobra animated with expressions" !!!
Oh-man... Colin, I have just been working on a snake model too, only just with bones and doinking away with it in a chor but... using expressions !!!???
How does one even begin to do such a thing?
I mean, do we still need bones in the model and if so, how are they refrenced by the expressions ?
What links the model to the expression, is what I guess is what I am asking ?
thanks for any clue or link(s).

Still a GO for me too.

As for now - count me in.
Trying to keep busy lately, day-job-wise, and if I don't have to work that Saturday, I will be there.
AM is just so amazing, I will never catch up, but I will try !

Nice looking start page.
What's the plan ?
AM only ? or just In General?
What kind of knowledge ?
Very curious here.
An Outline perhaps ?
How enticing it seems.

What say ye all ?
Woh-Yeah,
I' m all for that.
Would be nice if someone could create a tutorial sometime.
Also post some useful sounds.
Here's a small "hit" sound if someone can use it.
Sorry, should have posted this in an other area.

When Apple created OS X 10.4 ("Tiger") they broke certain aspects of the system, which prevented A:M v11 working on it. It's not something you're doing wrong; it's not something Hash did wrong. Blame Apple.I would really appreciate why a G5 Powermac micro processor 2ghz Pc can not run Animation master 11.1 on an O.S OSX 10.4.8...What Am I doing wrong?Yeah, that was a shock for me also, after upgrading to Tiger.
However, the AM verson 13.on seems just fine on Tiger OS 10.4.8 here now. I have also noticed that most older projects & models "open" and "load" into 13.0n and when re-saved seem to surive ok.
I also have a small PC Loptop that does all AM versions, so that fills in the gaps for me here for now too.
Latest Quicktime - Avoid it

Here's where some additional help is available.
At Macfixit.com there is a thread that shows how to revert back to QuickTime 7.3 but it's quite involved. Excerpt, "You'll need to perform an Archive and Install process to remove all of the QuickTime update's (and potentially problem-causing) components, and replace them with the components of the older release. Unfortunately, this means you will lose some system settings and some or all third-party system add-ons."
Here's that thread if anyone needs it.
