  1. Really cool style and animation.

ps. I didn't understand a couple of the quips in the credits because the language contradicted itelf.

thanks... can you give me an example? english isn´t my native language, i´d like to know where i went wrong...

I think it is just these two:

    2. "Drive an unnecessarily big car even if you actually don't need a smaller one in the first place."

You could write: "Drive an unnecessarily big car even if you actually need a smaller one in the first place." or "Drive an unnecessarily big car even if you actually don't need one in the first place."

The next one I'm not sure if I understand the premise of this one.

    6. Always buy the cheapest groceries available even if your salary enables you to do otherwise.

Are you saying "Don't be a penny (pfenning) pincher." Or is this a social comment on people buying unhealthy processed food? Like at the Schnell Imbiss.

  2. I'm not sure if it would be worth the effort. The company is based in Sweden and Hash Animation Master would have to go to some expense to file a lawsuit and see it prosecuted which could take several years of Martin's personal/company finances. I think Martin would have to be able to show that his company has been harmed in some way. The Swedish company is called Dreamlight and they are not marketing nor selling software. They are marketing and selling training videos for DAZ Studio. The cost of the discovery phase, taking depositions and flying back and forth to Sweden, looking up case law and finding out if the term "animation master" is in violation of some copyright/trademark on its own. I work with a few Intellectual Property, Patent firms in South Florida and I can get further details from them to shed some light on the subject.

I also noticed the spelling of Hash Animation: Master versus 3D Animation Master is legally different enough to have a judge grant a summary judgement in favor of the Swedish company.

  3. Rusty,

I'm in agreement with Rodney on many of his suggestions about the font. Get rid of the extrusion, it's distracting. Don't texture the fonts.

    Get rid of Quad-whatever.

Get rid of all the text over the animation. My eyes aren't sure what's important, so none of it is.

Cut the video down to one minute.

Everything changed when I died, or at least when I should have died. (Does not seem to fit and does not help me understand what I'm watching)

Our new friends from a neighboring star made contact. Neither of us knew then that another was coming. (This is really vague and doesn't help)

    Journey to a Universe

    Where scientists like the alchemists

    have been replaced (Too vague)

    Where time has been redefined

    At stake

    Existence itself

    Twelve billion years ago

something dark entered the visible universe

    They've been coming

    Killing everything in their path

    Now they are here

    Now...it's our turn

This is my attempt based on what I can understand the story is about

Twelve billion years ago something evil entered the universe

Destroying every world in its path

    It has finally reached earth

Our very existence is at stake

    Earth's only hope

An ally from across the stars

I suggest re-cutting the video to a faster pace.

  4. I would love to see feature spot light pieces on the users who are using A:M successfully, ie: Soul Cage Department, Mark R. Largent, Will Sutton, Sabastien "TheFreshestEver" as well as others who are active users of the community and making quality animations. TWO and SO should have prominent feature articles on the main Hash site with a list of all the people who worked on it and what their roles were. A behind the scenes featurette would be cool with interviews. I think posting these types of things on a forum loses it's appeal and I personally don't want to sift through forums to find it. There is reciprocity for Hash to promote their successful users.

  5. Instead of putting the burden on Hash, here are a few alternate ideas.

    1. Ask your boss to buy it for you and show them how it could benefit the company, assuming it can or you're creative enough to show them how it can.

    2. Ask your boss for a raise of $299 per year or .82¢ mas o menos /dia.

    3. Ask your boss for a raise of $79 per year or .22¢ mas o menos /dia.

    4. Take a loan out from a local bank for either of those amounts for a 12 month term.

    5. Ask your family for a "wink, wink" loan.

    6. Get a second job.

    7. Think of another way to get the money as long as it doesn't involve criminal behavior.

  6. It's no big deal. It's not Chapter 7

Chapter 7 Business and Corporation Bankruptcy

Chapter 7 business and corporation bankruptcy typically causes a business to cease all operations, depending on the amount of and type of debt and the advisement of the bankruptcy trustee. For example, a company could be closed or it could be sold to another investor if approved by the bankruptcy trustee. Furthermore, in a Chapter 7 filing, corporations and partnerships do not receive a discharge; instead, the corporation or partnership is dissolved. As in the case of an individual filing Chapter 7, however, most debts, depending on their nature, are discharged.

Chapter 11 Personal Bankruptcy & Business and Corporation Bankruptcy

Chapter 11 bankruptcy is available to both individuals and all types of corporations, businesses and partnerships. Instead of discharged debt like the Chapter 7 bankruptcy plan, Chapter 11 is a restructuring of existing debts. Moreover, a corporation, business or partnership remains in complete control of its assets, whereas in Chapter 7 business divisions are either closed or sold.

    Chapter 13

Unlike Chapter 7 and 11, Chapter 13 bankruptcy exists mainly for individuals and is the rarest form of bankruptcy filed. In fact, it is nearly the opposite of chapter 7 bankruptcy. For example, in a Chapter 13, instead of an individual's non-secured debts being discharged, the individual presents a plan to repay the debt within a period of three to five years.

  7. I'd say if Josh submits one to the mascot contest it should not be a reason to not participate with something else

and it would not be fair to others that this one wins without a voting...

Since some of Paul's work was really outstanding it is very likely that he will win with his work anyway because of his talent and not because of his death.

I think that is the way an artist like him would like it better anway. Be admired for his work, not pitied for his death.

    See you

    *Fuchur*

    Fuchur,

Sorry, perhaps I'm misinterpreting your reply but my suggestion is to honor his work. The gesture of foregoing the contest and making one of his characters a mascot for one A:M version does exactly that. No pity was implied. In the event A:M ultimately decided they didn't want to make a special exception they can continue with the contest. People generally vote for candidates they have respect for. :)

  8. I think its a nice idea but should be done by Hash itself and the model stays Pauls with no public acces

I agree that the model should not become public domain. I meant that a respected member of the A:M community would get access to the model to pose it not that everyone would get a crack at it. I guess they could still hold the contest and have Josh submit one of his dad's models for voting. That way it could still be a democratic process.

  9. I'm new to A:M and the forums but I was amazed at the quality and diversity of the body of work done by former member Paul Forward whose untimely passing occured this June. He seemed to be very revered on the board and I wondered if A:M could somehow commemorate his passion for animation, creativity and skill with A:M by posthumously designating one of his creations as the 2013 A:M Mascot. Perhaps if his son, Josh, could give access to one of his best models. Someone could render it out in a suitable pose for the splash screen. Let me know what your thoughts are on the possibility of this idea are and if it is something the forum members would be in support of.

    Sincerely,

    Keith J. Brett

  10. William,

Truely a fantastic looking model. Any chance you could make a fully rendered to wireframe turn-a-around of the bear standing up? This would be a fantasic tutorial or video of your process.

    Keep up the great work.

  11. This is really great news. I wish Hash would post a list of companies that use A:M. It would be interesting to see where it's being used in the professional community. Perhaps Charles could give Hash a quote or a short article to use on the home page?

  12. Kelley, unfortunately I'm two decades too late to meet you...

Well, timing is everything in life. You reccomended I contact Bristol Community College; do they use A:M there?

I don't know if they teach A:M there. I was only suggesting that there may be students interested. RISD would probably be another college to explore student interest in A:M.

  13. I'm glad George is moving on and put his franchise in capable hands. Although I'm befuddled why he stated he has other experimental films he wants to do and didn't want to drag his company through that. That's why he created Lucasfilm in the first place so he could do his own films. Happy retirement George, may the force be with you.

  14. Rob,

When I manually scrub through the video the ball never touches the ground on the second bounce and actually rolls forward two frames before the upward motion. The ball also changes colors and loses opacity at the top of the second bounce. Otherwise I can't tell where you transitioned the real ball for the animated one. Really cool animation overall.
