  1. MMZ,

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm a huge fan of SCI Channel "How It's Made" and the like.

I recently watched a great episode where they showed how "end mills" are machined.

Your animation reminded me of that and it truly is a nice animation for explaining how a drill bit works.

I agree that the change to a cresent moon shape for the particles is better.

  2. Really nice. Did you actually animate the RPMs increasing on the drill bit because it looks as if it is. The motion blur is terriffic.

Would you show how you modeled the drill bit? I would like to see the profile curve.

It would be cool if you modeled tool markings, such as the bit size and manufacturer, on the bit. It would help show the spinning if the eye had a point of reference to focus on.

  3. Excellent work although some of your anatomy is just slightly tweaked. I agree with Rob that your poses need to be more dynamic.

As someone who received a bachelors degree from an art college I think schools, especially mine, are overated but you will find artists from the other side of that position.

  4. Cool product! Nice review from the guys at CNET. It is a great idea for a product. I currently use gaffer tape to block my annoying leds but this is much cooler.

Say the most with the least amount of graphics.

I don't think you need two graphics to explain that you can customize it. At least as I view it.

I think the packaging looks a bit busy. Too many graphics at the top of the package competing for the viewers attention.

    Will's suggestion seems appropriate.

  5. A LOT of work went into this. Can ANYONE tell me what it all means????

There are a couple of analyses of it on youtube. I'll let you decide if they are informative. I've drawn my own conclusions.

  6. So two pounds is pretty good then. It was about 40% heavier than an ipad so I was wondering.

The Surface Pro yes, the Surface RT only a few grams. Personally I wouldn't buy the RT because I want all the extra bells and whistles that come with the Pro.

The only advantage the iPad has is screen resolution

  7. Looks like the Pro version will be somewhat more than 2 lbs. Is that a lot for a laptop?

I'm not sure if you were being facecious with your question :D but to be more specific the Surface Pro is competing in the Ultrabook class laptop market. The current Ultrabook class notebooks are in the 3 pound range give or take a few ounces.

  8. I read somewhere that it also uses a stylus, though I can't remember where I saw that. It'd be interesting to see if it could replace a good laptop, complete with A:M, MS-Office, dev environments etc.? Might be worth saving my pennies up for.

    [Edit]

At the tech conference I attended a few weeks ago, the vast majority of folks were carrying around iPads. I schlepped my monster laptop around, a real pain going thru Orlando International Airport. A good, reliable tablet like Microsoft promises with the Surface, would certainly go a long way to easing the back pain of carrying around that laptop!

Yes, only the Surface Pro has the (Wacom?) stylus. The Surface Windows RT is aimed at iPad users whereas the Surface Windows 8 Pro is aimed at laptop replacement users.

    See this link for specs.

  9. It looks really good, however her arms are emaciated in proportion to the rest of her figure and especially her expressive hand size. I'm also not sure if her breasts are intentionally lumpy. It appears as if you were modeling in some type of brazier or bodice. Fixing those areas would really improve upon the model.

  10. ...

This should go into a Hash history page.

    ...

Where can I find this history page?

    Greetz,

    Elm.

I don't know if there is one but there certainly should be one.

Perhaps someone could post it on the Facebook Timeline or on Wikipedia.

  11. Thank you very much.

I scaled up gum and teeth and edit all LipSync Relationships.

Now I understand more about Poses.

    NaiToSatTha_editPose02_18_0000.mov

    Thank you.

Much, much better. I think you need to add lips to the characters mouth to keep it from looking like a puppet. Notice when people speak they purse or pucker their lips to form certain sounds

Keep watching the video of the singer. Look at his facial expressions to get a feel for when he closes his eyes. Currently you have random eyes blinks in the video. Some blinks should pause longer.

  12. Nice find. This should go into a Hash history page. The price of the software has barely changed in 30 years.

I wonder what would have happened if Martin had an IPO for the company back at the height of the software boom?

I'm glad he didn't because I probably could not have afforded it anyway.

  13. My only comment was he misspelled the word invested as inverted. I cringed really hard seeing that primarily because I work for attorneys creating demonstrative aids and they jump on that right away.

More lego craziness in the news recently around my neighborhood! Perhaps this lego-obsessed CEO is in need of services from your firm?

My guess is he'll take a plea bargain to a lesser charge, pay huge fines and be on some form of community service probation for a finite period of time.

  14. I really dug the music, so much I downloaded it. It added some atmosphere to what would have been an otherwise boring video. My only comment was he misspelled the word invested as inverted. I cringed really hard seeing that primarily because I work for attorneys creating demonstrative aids and they jump on that right away. If I spent three years making it I would have had someone spell check my work. Otherwise a completely amazing adventure in tedium.

  15. Ok, now I know why your lipsync looks peculiar.

When you open your mouth your teeth are right behind the lips and as wide as the inside of the cheeks.

The characters teeth are too small for the mouth so when I watch this my brain doesn't accept the lipsync.

Your character appears like compressed air is being blown into his mouth from an airhose. His cheeks puff out really far.

Keep working at it. I know you'll get it.

  16. A genuinely Squetchy floursack that deforms smoothly and can do what a hand drawn floursack does is a bit of an advanced rigging topic. :o

Here's my initial investigation into a simple two-control sack.

    sackjump500.mov

Here's the model you can play with although it's only about 25% of the functionality on would need.

I have yet to start any of TaoA:M

    Do look into that! :D

Really nice, though your flour sack looks a bit empty.
