Here's a character I made for practicing leg animating/walk cycles.
All I did was delete Thom's head and arms and put some of my eyes on him.

When squashing or stretching how do you do it?
I know I am doing it wrong, but I was close.

(edit) I am refering to manipulating the model , I have a pose slider but it limits me on rotating the ball.

I think you're making things too complicated for this exercise, Gene. Follow Robert's advice:
Start simple, then work your way up to the complex stuff.
