  1. i'm still working on that same head from another topic, but i've deleted most of so i could start over. I added two rings around the eyes and one around the mouth ( i was told to do that in another forum). but know i'm not sure how to go about connecting the eyes nose and mouth. i managed to connect them earlier but the face wasn't smooth and the lips didn't come out quite right. First- how do i connect the parts? Second- how do i make the lips protrude naturally? thanks if you can help ~Hisako
  2. i'm not sure which one of these things in the control panel my video card would be under so here's a picture of my entire control panel. which category is it under? if that doesn't work, i'll just hold my pictures up the my monitor and trace them into A:M that way (it worked for one )
  3. i have downloaded the latest direct X (from March 2008 called Direct X SDK). it was from microsoft's website i figured it'd be an official production so i downloaded it, but every time i switch my graphics card in A:M to Direct X the screen either comes back black or it says 'ERROR!' and then a little window comes and says : Error. Change your graphics card to another driver (it says something like that i think, not sure of the exact wording) I have A:M 2006. I am currently using Open GL as my graphics card. when i load my rotoscope image, i right click on model in the Project workspace window, and choose New > Rotoscope. I've tried using all types of images PNGs, JPGs, JPEGs, Targas etc. none of them work. a big white rectangle just appears on the screen where the image is supposed to be. i hope it's not my particular copy of A:M, because sometimes my program comes back and tells me about all of these 'unknown exceptions' and then it closes out. but i'm hoping it's just the video card. PS- where would i find settings for my video cards, would that be in the control panel?
  4. does any body else use open GL as the graphics card with A:M? if so does your rotoscope work? in another forum i was told to use Direct X, but the version i had was old so i was told to update it to a newer version. i did, and when i went into A:M options and choose direct X; it gave me an error message. I still can't use my rotoscope which is VERY limiting to me. does anybody have any other suggestions? (the direct X i downloaded was Microsoft Direct X SDK March 2008) thank u Hisako
  5. i made an anime head this time (still working on a more real looking face; only want semi-realistic though). i like it okay except for some creases and the mouth looks defective to me. Also thinking about changing the hair a little bit; i think i should've made the bangs spiky. Any suggestions?
  6. thanx for the suggestion. but how exactly do i access hooks? will the face tutorial help me with that? i know what hooks are but i don't know how to make them active. this help menu told me to right click and left click on single control point at the same time but it doesn't seem to work how do you activate hooks? thanx, hisako
  7. don't laugh... but i've manged to make this partial 'face' after owning A:M for a month. but my problem is the creases and folds around the outside of the eyes and i think some around the nose. i know in order to get rid of the creases i will have to eliminate some of those three point patches, but i'm not sure where to relocate the splines and control points. maybe i should just redo the portions that are creased but i'm not sure how to rearrange it all. does anybody have any suggestions? hisako
  8. thanx for the ideas guys gotta get that A:M painter after i get some more money (i'm broke ) i found some hair textures in my Poser 7 runtime folder (just have to convert all of the images to targas now) but one more question: rusty, i like all of those skin texture effects Adobe Photoshop can produce; read your tutorial, but its too complicated for me; i've only had A:M for a month, but i'll work on it. my only other problem is i don't own Adobe Photoshop do you think i could do that with any photo editing program? I own Jasc Paintshop Pro 7 (it's manufactured by DELL. have you ever heard of it? i know a lot of people i asked haven't; it works pretty good but i'm not sure if it can do all of that. And it's not compatible with A:M in any way that i know of). maybe i should invest in Adobe Photoshop... hisako
  9. Maps... ( i see those a lot in my other program Poser 7 ). how do you make your own maps? can AM do that? (i'm still learning this program just now had it for a month or so) ps thanx 4 the brows.zip
  10. hey rodney,

I'm hisako 100112 and i had the topic where i was asking which graphics cards i should update.

i own a Dell computer that's windows based.

Should i go to Dell's website or the Microsoft website?

sorry i'm such a dummy at this.

    thanx ~Hisako 100112

  11. i'm just curious; how do you add eyebrows and eyelashes to a character? i've tried using the hair systems but they are to thick or just don't show up in the group (i guess the area is too small; when i apply it to the whole face it shows up then.) or would i use decals? if you use decals, how would you position them correctly on the face? also where would i find eyebrow/eyelash looking images/materials? is there a website that supplies that kind of stuff for A:M? thanx - hisako ps - also looking for skin & hair textures too.

  13. what drivers should i update? maybe i should update my AM to the 2007 version. do you think updating AM would help? or should i just update the graphics card/drivers?
  14. i know its been a while since that forum topic i had about modeling an anime character, but my internet computer crashed and i had to get it fixed; hadn't been on in days. anyway i did try a much smaller image, and it didn't work either,do you have any other suggestions? i'll try restarting it after switching the graphics setting.

  15. might it be under the name Direct 3D v8? when i changed it to that, the whole screen went black if it isn't Direct 3D v8, i don't have it. i dont no how, but i don't.
  16. hmmm... i don't believe i have directX installed on my computer. do you know where i can download it? the image is 864 X 1396 pixels i believe. is that too big?
  17. i've only tried to load pngs. I usually start by right clicking on model then choosing new rotoscope. after that it gives me an option to load the image so i do. all that appears on the screen is a white rectangle or square where the image is supposed to be. So if i open the image without choosing new rotoscope and drag it onto the screen it should appear? ps - thanx for the cat eyes
  18. thank you i will look into these things, but i'm having problems with my rotoscope feature; it wont display the image on the screen after i load it. i'm contacting hash to see what i'm doing wrong. caroline thanks for the website thank you both ~hisako ps- does anyone know how to make cat eyes?
  19. i'm totally new to animation master and 3d animation and modeling but i'm very interested in learning it. i own animation master 2006 and its on a windows system. i also own the book Animation:Master A complete Guide by David Rogers; but it doesn't really say anything much about anime or modeling that much in general. i'm wondering how to model an anime looking person; nothing photo realistic and no animation for now. does anyone have any tips for me? is there another forum i can look at? i went to this site called katakata atelier but it's all in japanese and was no help. just looking for some helpful replies or guides; thanks
