JohnArtbox Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 Nothing much to say...it's a boat. The model's for illustrating how the ship handles, and isn't intended to be photoreal, especially as it's for a proposal only. Quote
nixie Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 that looks lovely! liking the colour scheme and water, Is this for a job then? Any more info? Nixie Quote
Sacman Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 I was in the Navy some time ago and was on board a guided missle cruiser (USS Bainbridge) for 3 years. This is a great job! I know you said you are going for a simplistic approach but the basic shape is fantastic. I like it. One thing though. It is a ship not a boat. In the Navy a boat is a Submarine. I want one, Wade I would post a pic but for some reason I have never been able to attach an image. So i put a link in instead. It is a grainy crappy pic but it works. Quote
DarkLimit Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 John this looks great so far, the water is amazing...... I look forward to more updates.. Quote
JohnArtbox Posted April 20, 2004 Author Posted April 20, 2004 thanks guys Chris: It's for a job, but I can't say anymore at the moment. Wade: I couldn't get you link to work I know about the ship/boat thing...it's a very minor manifestation of my anti authoritarian streak . Why is a sub a boat though? Is it a hangover from UBoats? Robert: Slight water update Quote
KenH Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 (edited) A great start and I adore the water. What material is it? It all sounds very hush hush! Maybe a big job coming up? Get AM more firmly on the map kinda thing? PS Sacman: You can attach an image in the reply area. Just scroll down abit and browse for your pic. Edited April 20, 2004 by KenH Quote
jon Posted April 21, 2004 Posted April 21, 2004 a ship has boats on it. if you don't have boats, you're on a boat. it's that simple ' ' ) -jon ps: nice ship! Quote
Sacman Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 (edited) Ken: I have been trying to post pics as attachments for months and it will not let me do it. I understand that you should go to the bottom of the post page to the 'Attachments' section and browse for the file. So I have done that. However, when I post it isn't there. I don't know why. I have sent email's to several on the staff there and they tell me the same thing. It just doesn't work for me. I have done so yet again for this post and lets see if it works. Jon: What a great explanation for the boat/ship question. HA!!!! I figured it out. I think! Edited April 23, 2004 by Sacman Quote
