I've been working on this metal flake material, in v8.5, in my spare time. I really wanted to capture the sparkling quality as the perspective changed. I rememberd a tuturial by Charles Babbage: "Diffraction Grating 101", where he used a multi-gradient tree for specular accents.

I figured I could do the same thing for a whole material by adjusting the "edge surface" property, by rotating you see the same material slightly offset with some colors attributes switched, giving it a twinkling appearance.

Still needs a little work.

And incase your wondering "Why did he need to use metal flake?" I've been working on my stick-puppet coverband, "The Rinds". This is going to be an ever changing project, always growing...Growing...GROWING!!! :o

Dagnabbit!

Where were you 2 years ago! I would have paid hard cash for that drum set!!!

I couldn't even find "poly" models of a drum set.

Very nicely done! Metal flake works for me!

Set looks good. Much better than the champagne sparkle one that I sold a few years back.

I would make the first tom (the one on the left as you sit behind the drums) a bit smaller. Right now the two on the bass drum seem to be the same diameter.

I dig it and hope hope to see some character playin those skins!
