Tom
I have been trying to figure out how to replicate a character flicking paint off a paint brush onto a canvas. Think, Jackson Pollock onto a vertical canvas. I can sort of figure out the flicking of blobs but I don't know if it is possible to make those blobs stick onto something... Anyway, I hope to be there tomorrow. Tom
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted July 24, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted July 24, 2020 I think Pollock solved the gravity problem with horizontal canvases. 😃
Tom
Yes, his "action" paintings were all done horizontally but I was just looking for an example to describe the animation of something splattering against a wall or other vertical thing. Do you think that is possible to make a blob (or other particle or sprite) stick to a vertical surface?

Try setting the gravity in the Chor to a horizontal direction. + or - X instead of -Y
Tom
I didn't know that was possible... Will that effect everything in the scene or just the specific blobs?
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted July 24, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted July 24, 2020 Most of your scene... characters, models, lights... doesn't care about gravity. Particles do. Bullet objects do. Cloth does. Dynamic bones do. But that's about it. Now that I think about it, you can leave the Chor gravity at its default and negate it in the properties of the Fluid material! Tom
I'm guessing the fluid properties can be animated so the gravity is normal and then zero gravity takes effect when the blob hits the surface ...
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted July 24, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted July 24, 2020 That sounds less likely. Can you set them to change over the particle's life? BTW, i suggest you load up v17 for fluid experiments, for now. I think there is a display problem in v19.
Tom
I only have v 19 on my computers... If you are so inclined, maybe you could try it on 17 tomorrow(?)
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted July 25, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted July 25, 2020 You can get past version on the ftp...ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows/ copy your master0.lic file from the v19 folder to the v17 folder

Tom
Thanks to Rob for another Live Saturday tutorial! I agree that the Oswald cartoon was artistically superior to Steamboat Willie...interesting observation. Thanks for pointing it out. BTW- Is there any chance of you posting the video of today's class?

Tom
no problem...take your time... there are always little things to pick up along the way.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted July 31, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted July 31, 2020 @Tom I've split this discussion into its own thread so it can still be found.
