spacecomics Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 I found my old A:M disk and inserted it in my not as old Windows 7 PC, and it says: The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. I thought this PC would run both 32-bit and 64-bit. Is there a way to get this to work? The disk says ©2002. Can't afford a new version. Thank you. --Roger Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 13, 2018 Hash Fellow Posted October 13, 2018 Hi Roger! The CD versions haven't run without work-rounds since Windows 7 nixed some security holes. I don't know if there is way to run a version that old without going back to Windows 2K or maybe XP. But when you were working on Tin Woodsman you must have had a later version than that? Quote
spacecomics Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Yes, I probably had a later CD version, maybe around 2005, not later than 2009. But I can't find it 🙄 Thanks. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 13, 2018 Hash Fellow Posted October 13, 2018 Try the compatibility stuff peirrotsc suggested and see if the installer will run. Quote
spacecomics Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 OK I'll try later tonight, and look for my other cd too. Thanks. Quote

I tried a search for peirrotsc on the forum, no luck. What was the specific workaround (or series of workarounds)? Quote

I just remember that i tried the registry modification version of it and and it worked. Quote
