Admin Rodney Posted February 28, 2014 Admin Posted February 28, 2014 Here's a project that contains all the various actors from the 1998 A:M CD. Note: For one reason or other many of these were not deemed appropriate for updating so they never made their way to the inaugural Extra CD. As these are mostly for inspiration and nostalgia decals and materials are not included but can be uploaded if requested. Although there are 37 characters (two Thoms, etc.) they weigh in at less than 9MB in the embedded file. If you want to save the models our separately just Right click on the model in the Project Workspace and Save As, as the models are embedded in the Project. Added: It was during this timeframe that Hash Inc officially changed the name of their product: Name Change After three years of our flagship product being named "Martin Hash's 3-Dimensional Animation", still more than half of the press mentions, and many of the customers refer to it as "Animation Master", (the name of our studio suite). We bow to the pressure - our 3D product will now be named "Martin Hash's Animation Master". The studio suite products: "Lip-Synch", Multiplane", and "NetRender" will simply be called "The Network Version" Past owners of the studio suite products will not be affected. Prices remain the same. JackDrama Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Perfect! I wish they should be back in the CD along with the new ones. I use v1.11d+ and I want to use them along with the COOL GUY "by Rich Lovato" too. That would make a big collection of actors! Please, Rodney add them (only the ".mdl" files) in a ".zip" file. Quote
Fuchur Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 There is a very old friend there ... Critter must have been used later on by some guys because somewhere I know him from . See you *Fuchur* PS: How large (filesize) is the whole package? Textures/Materials, Models, etc? Quote
Wildsided Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 the 'businessman' character could easily be turned into Slender man. Quote

That would make a big collection of actors! laugh.gif Please, Rodney add them (only the ".mdl" files) in a ".zip" file. biggrin.gif Jack, You may be able to help us make some decision about those A:M User that for whatever reason cannot or will not upgrade. The dilemma: 1. We want to support current A:M Users. (Especially those that financially support Hash Inc) 2. We want to support all A:M Users present and past. 3. We want to encourage those who have never purchased A:M to purchase (A:M is well worth every penny). 4. We want to encourage and support those who are willing to support themselves. 5. We want to unite the community not segregate it into fragments of what version they are using. (Note: with a current subscription all releases of A:M can be used all the way back to v13). Over the years I have pondered how we might approach this here in the forum (a forum provided/hosted for us by Hash Inc). Should we create a subforum where those that (for whatever reason) do not upgrade to support themselves with the general support and encouragement of the core A:M User community and Hash Inc? Could we do that without constant reminders being posted to upgrade to the current release of A:M? There are a lot of sad cases out there... upgrade A:M... or put food on the kitchen table for their kids. How do we support those guys and gals? I confess that I do not have the answer here and ask in all honesty for your valued input. It's obviously easier for everyone just to subscribe and stay current than to compartmentalize A:M Users into specialized areas of the forum for the version they use (when it's not the current release). If we were to create a 'legacy forum that supports those who only use older releases of A:M' would you be a moderator? I'm sure the solution is a simple one, I just don't know what it is. Critter must have been used later on by some guys because somewhere I know him from Well, he was the splash screen character for the '98 release! That's where he is burned into my memory. the 'businessman' character could easily be turned into Slender man. I like that businessman... not quite as much as Pencil Guy... Funny story... in another forum there was a guy who told many a tale of the Slender Man and wished to complete a hand drawn animated film with him. The problem was that every time he drew the Slender Man he scared himself and couldn't continue. He apparently had been dreaming about Slender man for years. I encouraged him to knuckle down and tell his tale but thus far I don't think he did. PS: How large (filesize) is the whole package? Textures/Materials, Models, etc? 385MB of data in the Data folder (this includes all the various Models, Materials, Project Files etc. Perhaps we could get it posted to the Hash Inc FTP. This would at least resolve the 'old user access' dilemma. Quote

What amazes me is how wide spread the slender man mythos has become, considering it was invented as part of a Photoshop competition in 2009. http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/slender-man People treat it like some kind of ancient myth when really it's no more 'real' than zuul from ghostbusters. JackDrama Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Coming back to this topic, I'd like to say that I was always wanted to learn who was/were the creator/creators of Spikey and Wasko and which of the two was created first 🙂. Funnily enough, I’ve seen the eyes which both characters have, appearing several times in some people’s works that were made using this software since 1992, but I guess the models might be older than that (from the Animation: Journeyman era maybe?). And also were these two characters (or at least one of them) created for a specific kind of project, such as a short film that was never completed or did they have a different purpose before being included in whatever version of the software they were introduced? Admin Rodney Posted November 18, 2023 Author Admin Posted November 18, 2023 @JackDrama A large number of the models on the A:M Extras CD were created by Alain Descochers. About the time that I started with A:M (1998 timeframe) Alain had an extensive website that featured most of his models. They were avialable for purchase at that time. Later when he closed his website many of the models began to make their way to other sites such as The A.R.M. (Vernon Zehr's A:M assets website) as well as others. In the process of collecting resources for the A:M CD the entire collection (or at least what was generally available) was donated to the cause. All of the characters were used in some way for some production (or at least preproduction) work. I believe most of those can be seen on the Hash CG History youtube channel although a quick search didn't turn anything up. Here's the link to that channel: https://www.youtube.com/@hashcghistory3211/shorts Quote
