Empire Theatres sold to Cineplex

Well the big news in my day is that the company I work for (Empire Theatres) was just sold to Cineplex. So now Cineplex is the only major movie chain in Canada! I have no idea what this is gonna be like, hopefully I'll still have my job once all is said and done!

UPDATE: We get to keep our jobs, yay!

I'm not sure. I don't think so, but then again, I'm not exactly the world's foremost expert on Canadian business :P It's crazy though, things are a little chaotic and stuff. Like we're only finding details out through social media sites and newspapers. Our head office hasn't even like told us any details, in fact I don't even think they know what's going on. It's gonna be a crazy couple of months/year cause I guess they're completely rebranding and could even redesign theatres like ours.

Yea, it's one of those times that I'm glad that I never worked my way up the chain. Most of head office is out of jobs with this sale. I *think* it'll be for the best, Empire was always kind of a run-down sort of company anyways. I personally think the finances were never there to really improve on things and that's why theatres like the one I work never had any work done to it over the course of its 15 years of operation. Like our poppers are the same ones that were installed with the building. I tell yea, it's a real pain keeping 15 year old machinery ship-shape.
