Darkwing
This is going to be a very interesting one to follow, especially if it reaches the 75,000 dollar pledge! I'm actually kind of excited by this project! Check it out, see what you think! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/58936338/space-command
Gerry
Dang, that didn't take long! They hit their 75K target in like four days (with 56 days to go). Big talent attached with lots of mainstream Hollywood credits, so Kickstarter isn't just about indies. Any good idea can get funding if you do it right. Gerry
Well they apparently made their $75k goal without breaking a sweat, so they're doubling down and going for $150k. Probably do it, too!
Darkwing
Y'know, there's a part of me that would almost like to see TV shows created by this method. Imagine being able to take out the middle man (the distributor). Would probably help prevent good shows from being axed because of idiot execs. I could easily start a rant I think if I wanted
Gerry
Hey Chris, it's easy to get frustrated with "the system" and dream of a better way, but even if everything changed, there would still be about the same proportion of dreck to diamonds, and probably about the same amount of unfairness. Just sayin. From time to time I judge local art shows (and I've entered a few over the years) but whether they're juried or not, there's always a fair amount of crap. Impossible to get away from. Darkwing
Haha, too true. Personally I've never been much of a buck the system guy for that reason, but with TV, I think it might be better if the viewer had more direct input into the success of a show beyond fan mail. But what do I know? Nothing actually.
MMZ_TimeLord
I'll have to keep an eye on this as I've always loved the work these folks do. Babylon 5 was one of my most favorite series. Every word written from start to finish for all five seasons prior to ANY shooting. THAT'S the way to make sure the story has continuity! Anyhoo... thanks for the link. I'll have to start watching those new Star Trek episodes based on the original. Love it!
Darkwing
Phase 2 is pretty good. Acting is kinda meh, but it is a fan production. But the production value is quite high, especially in the more recent episodes. It's definitely a testament to Trek and I always tip my imaginary hat to the massive amount of effort they put into keeping it alive
