The wizzard of Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Hello all, I want to make a scene with flying or falling Money. mt first problem seems to be making the paper thin enough to be paper and still put a decal on it. the second problem is placing the bones for curving and flipping the paper as it falls. And it would be fantastic to have any suggestions on the best way to set gravity etc. Thank you Quote

Explain that more. I'm not sure what you mean by "thin enough" the second problem is placing the bones for curving and flipping the paper as it falls. And it would be fantastic to have any suggestions on the best way to set gravity etc. Thank you This sounds like this might be a job for a cloth simulation. Cloth could be made to be flexible like paper and could be dropped and blown about by forces. No bones required. Quote

No bones required. you can not create a single set of splines to an object, you have to make a 3 dimensioned rectangle. if it is too thin the decal will not apply to both sides. I will look in to the cloth, do you know if there is a tutorial about cloth? Thank you for the help. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 21, 2010 Hash Fellow Posted April 21, 2010 Yes, a decal will always appear on both sides of the patch it is applied to. It is possible with compositing to have different sides appear on a single thickness patch and that would simplify the cloth simulation approach. The initial cloth tutorial is in the TAoA:M booklet. I recommend that as a starter. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 21, 2010 Hash Fellow Posted April 21, 2010 Here's a quick go at fluttering paper MoneyDrop5H.mov Here's the PRJ MoneyDrop_08_simmed_5_secs.zip the bills are all parts of the same model. A cloth material is applied to it. They are dropped into the midst of a "fan" force that blows them to the left. Quote
MattWBradbury Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Neat Are they falling through a resistant force? Quote
