Darkwing Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 yeah, i can do my own hair..... i think that came out wrong Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 Updated but not complete file that is half rigged. This ones going better since I can modify the splines as I need without worry of mirror. There is no weighting at this point, that is my next step then I'll CFA it and mirror the bones. Big thanks to MT for helping out and his 2008 rig w1_half.zip Quote
mtpeak2 Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I'm going to post a new update for the installer in the next day or so. So don't go crazy assigning cps and weighting the model. Unfortunely the update means a new install, I don't have a fix for the current installer. I can update your model though, before you mirror the bones. Quote
Darkwing Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 and i'll just wait till everything's ready, though i do have a question, Earth Link Zero isn't a porno, so, if you rig all this, i'm gonna have to re-rig it once i model clothes correct? Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 You should be able to import the rigged model and modify it as you want by adding clothes, hair, change skin tone etc. The rigged half will allow me to make variations of the model so long as the joint positions don't change. Darkwing Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 been playing around with your model some. still more messing around to do, but here's an example: Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 19, 2009 Author Posted November 19, 2009 That looks pretty good. I need to tweak the face some more, the brow is still wrong. I like the hair. Once the new MT updates the rig I will put that in and weight the cp's on half the model. This will be our base of bases for characters of that proportion. Having the source and working files available for people might be more usefull since they can then modify, cfa and texture. I think many of the actions made can be applied to the models and adjusted per character. This should save time for running, walking etc. Quote
Darkwing Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 awesome, i also did some more work on hair and stuff. i'm starting to get the hang of texturing hair: the main thing i noticed with the model is the face isn't soft enough, it has too many creases, at least for a younger female model, but that i guess is something that the individual artist would work on to their liking EDIT: I've also noticed that the face looks like my grandmother when she was younger, and the hair like ellen degeneres or something Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 19, 2009 Author Posted November 19, 2009 Yup, i have to smooth that out, I did a lot of work on the last model half that I posted. Because the bias handles don't work in mirror mode and are not undoable it is best to make the model as perfect as possible in it's half stage. If you download the latest version just to see what has changed you will notice that around the eyes had been refined and many of the creases smoothed out around the nose. Don't go crazy with the old models, they were posted just for people to comment on. Quote
Darkwing Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 yeah, i intend to copy the costume into the final model and the same with the hair Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 Woman all rigged up with MT's new 2008 rig. I still need to do the face rig but at least give this a test and toss me some feedback. The 2008 rig is pretty simple to install and I really like working on an actual half model then cfa it after rigging and weighting. It really saved me in a couple of spots where I had to reconstruct some splines and move hooks. Just hiding the half wouldn't have worked as well. woman1_2008r.zip Quote
steve392 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Took a looksy ,the new finger controls are great ,but in my opinion you need more splines for the finger joints to be able to wiate it better I would use a minimum of two but 3 would be much better.Oh btw there is a cp not assigned in the head Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 Yup your right, she has noodle fingers, I'll add a spline between the knuckles. I didn't notice the missing cp assignment, it might have happened when I cfa the model and mirrored bones. How is the weighting on her? Quote
mtpeak2 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Needs work and you didn't use any fan bones (bicep fan, elbow fan, wrist fan, thigh fan or knee fan), they're built into the rig. Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 I did weight against the fan bones. Had to especially in the leg to pelvis. Wrist should have assignments to the twist as well. Quote
steve392 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 This is how I use the fan bones ,look at right elbow and the splines either side of it,its obviusly up to you but its much easier to use them woman1_2008r.zip Quote
mtpeak2 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 The forearm twist is for the forearm, there is another bone for the wrist. Take a look at the Thom model for reference. Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 Thanks, I'll redo. I do have a couple of problems, I added spines on the fingers between knuckles and it makes no difference, they still are too noodly. The other problem is the shoulder itself. isn't the shoulder usually a ball joint? I can't seem to get it to rotate along y axis and only on z. x should should have a very limited rotation. Quote
steve392 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Heres one I done the right index finger on as I would do it .I have 3 spline rings at the joints and one in-between to help shape it ,didn't look at the shoulders yet but Mark would be more able to answer that edit Looking at the shoulder you have no cp's to the fan bone ,its not working badley but you could get better using the fan bones as Mark said woman1_2008r.zip Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 Finger is better but still seems noodly to me. Definately a spline thing. I think I can just shorten the bias handles does the same thing with fewer patches. The shoulder seems ok once everything is done. Maybe I'm just used to other programs where you define the joint type and set constraints directly on those bones. Ill rig the cps on the fans and weight them toward the adjacent geom bones. You're definately right I would get a better results after looking at how you did it. Thanks Quote
steve392 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 If your trying to keep the splines down more you can get good results by just using two rings on the joints apose to three just do 50/50 or 75/25 for each but you may still need the inbeyween one for shape ,allthough your probably a much better modeler than me ,thats not hard Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Thanks for the compliment but I am just ok at splines, I have done the majority of my modeling with poly's, sub-d surfaces and nurbs. Still pretty green at splines. I re-weighted and fixed the fingers up a bit. I do have one crease I need to fix between the forefinger and middle finger and need to redo that spline so it doesn't run into limbo or criss cross. The fans do work very well, nice work MT. Anyways check this out and hollar with suggestions. w1halfrig.zip Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Have the model completed except for the textures and face rig. Should I hold up on the face rig and let people do their own? I was originally going to set it up for AM Track but i'm not sure how many use that and there are a couple of other face rigs out. Quote
steve392 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Couldn't you use the face rig and be able to use AM track ? That would be handy.Havent had a chance to look at it yet ,I just lost a days work by not saving ,like an idiot Quote
steve392 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Had a look ,the waigting is still not right really, you have not used the fan properly ,or as I understand it .Hers a fix on the r elbow ,check the waigting w1halfrig.zip Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 Like this? This is the cfa'd model If I can scrap up the $$ I will get AM Track, if anyone already has it, maybe they can jump in. Not sure on the compatibility between Track and the other face rigs out. w12008r_11_23.zip Quote
Darkwing Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 well, i know i'll be using the good ol lip synch feature, though how much does AM Track cost Quote
steve392 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 http://www.zigncreations.com/tutorials.html"" target="_blank">AM track you could have a look and see what bones it uses ,Im prety sure the light rig face works with it but Holmes would know Quote
steve392 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 no you need to use the 3 spline rings the centre one gets 50 and 25 to the forearm and bicept the one next to it on the forearm side gets 75 and 25 to the cntre one same for the other side 1 as you have it 2 side splines 3 as the centre should look so each ring adds up to 100% apart from that its looking better ,I think you will still have to mess with the waigting ,ie neck and such afterwards and you will probably want to do a little smartskinn on the joints Quote
pixelplucker Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 Ahh I get it. You probably want to smack me upside the head with a 2x4 by now hehe. I'll fix her up and noticed the front of the legs sink when bent, need to fix that as well. Quote
