I don't think so, but you can show the time as frames rather than time - go to Tools Menu > Options > Units, and click the circle next to Frames Elapsed. That may be less confusing, as long as you remember how many frames per second.

 

And they're not really cut in half - American standard, I believe is 24 fps.

well the parts thats really confuseing is that 30 second is apperantly 1 minute in the time line and 60 seconds is 2 minutes

30 frames equals one second, approximately NTSC standard (29.97). You can use the edit options to change the frame rate, and you can change the frame rate of a project in the project properties.

00 => minutes : 30 => seconds : 00 => frames...

 

So what he is describing is, that 30 seconds are equal one minute in A:M which is a very strange behaviour. Didnt notice that till now, but if you can reproduce it, you should report it to hash.
