I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do, but.....

If you press the compensate mode icon (beside the magnet icon at the top) and then

Force a keyframe with the gold key icon at the bottom (Make sure you're keying the right properties to the left of the gold key).

Then a keyframe will be created and it will be the default values for scale and rotation and position will be set to 0,0,0.

Then follow my last post on a new frame. That way you have your manipulations on one frame and the default/null values (ie the values you have when you drag the model in to the chor) on a new frame.

"default" bone positions are always going to be the positions the bones were modeled in.

If you want a quick way to set a character up in some position, you can create a new ON/OFF "Pose" in the character model that puts the character into that shape.

Then , instead of turning the Pose "ON", drag the pose from the pose slider window onto the character inteh chor window. It will directly keyframe all the bones that were keyed in the pose.

This is not a complete explanation. There are many things you can get wrong the first time you try this.

I think that the Animate-Button (big "A" in the right upper corner) can do something like that... but be sure to make a backup before you try it out... the Animate-Button is very powerful but can be very destructive too.

The better way would be to use a pose and do it again from that position.

Anyway: If you use the A-Button, be sure to turn it on again after you made your default-changes.
