guamdude Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 I am just really curious as to what it takes to really create a game engine and all its processes, like what programs can be used (VisualC++, etc) and what not. Anyone? - Quote
ragtag Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Make that in-depth knowledge of programming and either OpenGL or DirectX (or both). On the bright side there are a number of open-source game engines available for us mortals to use. Ragnar Quote
jakerupert Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 I always wonder, why Hash doesn`t take arctic-pigs and develop it into a fullblown gameengine or at least some kind of multimedia-app like flash? May be they are at it? Maybe it`s too difficulot? ..................................... Quote
jon Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 arcticpigs is a third-party application. hash didn't develop it, although i'm sure they supported it's development. i'm sure it'd be a challenge, but hash, inc. is certainly more than equal to it. as i understand, the developer of arcticpigs is currently developing his envionment for other-than-web uses, which is akin to re-engineering your porsche to cut your grass... but such is life. it's all looking like spilt milk under the bridge.... -jon Quote
triath5147 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 All that stuff said, it would be sweet to have the artic pig technology with other current trends for an AM based game engine. ....will keep dreaming though I guess..... Quote
