John Bigboote Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 Hey hallowed hashers! I've been laying low, but have had a chance to get 45 seconds of full finished animation of my 4 'Rollin Stone characters...here's how it's lookin'... I will let it render over the holiday and hope to post something on A:M Films by the NewYear... I am rendering at double D1 res (1440X972) so the hair won't 'jitter' on video and it is taking about 17 minutes per frame so it will be awhile...I have 4 processors on 2 machines working on it. A 4X4 multipass D1 render was over 32 min. Does anyone in the A:M community offer renderfarm services? Quote

Mega Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 Hi, John: I posted this in the OT section. Hope this helps. ***************************************** Some time back someone posted about render farm services and I think mentioned RenderMuscle. Well, I emailed Mike Ulrich of RenderMuscle. I asked him about his render farm services. Below, with his permission, is his response(s): <<Hey Tony, I'm guessing you are asking about our render farm? Currently the farm is offline. We will be updating the nodes in the not so distant future as we approach internal rendering needs, but we've moved the farm from a commercial service to an in-house studio farm. There just was'nt enough interest to keep them up and running... ate up too much juice. Prior to taking things offline, we did render a couple projects that used DarkTree and could render AM projects from 8.5 - V.11. If things time out favorably, there is the possibility of using our farm as we fire it up for internal renders after the 1st of the year. We have 25 rack mounted Dual AMD 2100+ nodes, each with a gig of ram. Thanks, Mike Ulrich>> As well as... <<Once we have the nodes back on-line to render our in-house production, I'd be happy to to open it up for others between renders. We will have a good weeks worth of work getting it back on-line (we've moved and they all need serviced) As far as sharing my e-mail on the list, that would be fine, although I won't be able to offer services until after we have things back up and running. I can't take a week to do that until after the first of the year. Keep me posted, Mike>> Mike, if needed, can be reached at mike@rendermuscle.com Hope this helps, Tony Quote
ddustin Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 John, My farm is sitting Idle right now, and probably will for a day or so. I have 6 machines, and would be happy to help you out. I could let it render over night. Can you send me something to do a test render on a few frames? What about logistics? If I render to frames, how do I get them to you..... duh, I could put them on CD and snail mail them. Email me @ ddustin@dustinproductions.com David Quote
smudge Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 (posting when I shoudn't be....) I'm really looking forward to this one, John Bigboote! It's nice to see it all coming togeather. Good luck on the render. ps. It's Keith Richard's B-Day tomorrow (12/17). Quote
John Bigboote Posted December 18, 2004 Author Posted December 18, 2004 Thanks for the offer Ddustin- I actually think it will take even longer than that, anywhoo I'm in no rush, this is for my own edification and not a paying gig, tho the hope is that SOMEDAY it may lead to actual revenue in some manner or another (IM 4 HIRE!) Thanks! I can't wait to see it done too! ROCK ON! Happy Birthday KEEF! Quote
ddustin Posted December 18, 2004 Posted December 18, 2004 John, What I meant was if you wanted me to do a portion of it, and send you the exported framed, I could have done some of it for you. David Quote
