starwarsguy
I went into the attributes for the ground, and started playing around with the settings. I started to get something like water: I'm going to make a material with it and play around with changing the values to make it look like it's moving. Just thought you guys might find this interesting.
starwarsguy
Wow. I changed the diffuse to a blacktop color, the specular to light grey, put it in an environment, and got this:
Chance
Definatly a cool effect, but with the black top it looks like a river of motor oil.
starwarsguy
Ya, I'm working on it...
starwarsguy
Here's a test of the reflections and color. Which color is best? If you don't like either, which colors do you think would work for diffuse and specular? I am working on the movement of the water after this. -TC-
Very nice SWG. Out of those pics i would say the one on the right, the blue/green colour makes it look a lot more like water. Keep it up !
Chance
I agree with TC, the one on the right looks much more natural. But still very dark, not sure if thats what you are going for, perhaps try a lighter shade of each color? I hope when you say making the water move you mean in waves and not just the ripples in your material, because it's hard for the water to look real when it's flat as far as the eye can see. Maybe try throwing in some larger waves to break up the flat surface using displacement maps, or just modelling them into the water object. starwarsguy
That's what I plan to do. Thanks for the replies! Off to work on it again!
Paul Forwood
I would try increasing the value of the reflective property and perhaps transparency. Looking good!
