nightmage80 Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Hey... I am new to the A:M and to 3D animation in general. One of the places that I was recommended to spend some time was Renderosity.com. When I went there, I found almost no one that used A:M. There is only one picture created with A:M there. Because I didn't know a lot about 3D, I pretty much ignored A:M until I finally figured it was worth exploring anyway (I ended up buying both Shade LE and Poser 5 as animation tools before looking into A:M). Anyway, I was hoping that some of you would sign up at Renderosity (http://www.renderosity.com/) and put some of your stills up there. It might help people like me to see the value of A:M and give it a chance early on. Having explored the Hash.com site, I really wish I saw this first! Quote
KenH Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 You're not really in the right forum topic section and you're kind of bending the guidelines. But I hope your message stays....somewhere, as you raise a valid point. I've always considered Poser users to be people who haven't heard of AM. Because once they do, they quickly ditch Poser. I guess most of the AM community hangs around here and so don't get time to go there, but you're right in that it would be great advertisement. Quote
higginsdj Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 You mean there is only one recent A:M image there.... The Renderosity A:M gallery is full of wonderful images (hundreds of them) Cheers Quote
nightmage80 Posted December 5, 2004 Author Posted December 5, 2004 What I did is go to Renderosity, Click on Forums. Click on Animation:Master. There are only 3 topics here. So I clicked on View Gallery. It brings you to the following: http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?Sectionid=23 There is only one picture here ("UnderWaterGraveyard" By DarkLimit). I will try to find the others that you mentioned. By the way, where should I have put a question like this? Maybe under Rants and Raves? I felt it made sense because I am suggesting people showcase A:M... Oh well, I guess being a newbie shows... I agree with the Poser comment. Basically all you can do is buy a doll from Daz3D and then pose it. Gee wiz... Thanks! I am so glad I found this site! I really hope others do as well! Quote
higginsdj Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 By default Renderosity takes you to the Whats New area. Look at the Sort By items and choose the others.... Cheers Quote
heyvern Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 Can't say that I am very happy with renderosity... I have 3 images done with AM in my gallery... Only one shows up. The other two don't display. I haven't posted there in ages, maybe that is why... Anyway, it is so much easier to post here or on my own website. Quit frankly I see renderosity as a "Poser Soft Porn Depot". Lots of ads for fishnet stockings and lingerie. Vernon "Vicky? Where can I meet her?" Zehr Quote

nightmage80 Posted December 6, 2004 Author Posted December 6, 2004 What you have to do is click on one of the other options like "most viewed". I found this because of the comments from one of the other posts. I would have never thought of doing this otherwise. There are some fantastic images but they don't show up because they are so old. Most are from 2001 and 2002. After those years, there are very few. 2004 seems to have been a major drought. The reason why it seems to be Poser heaven is the following: Total of 9360 new images. 1 new image in Animation:Master. 4 in Shade 6 in SoftImage XSI 23 in Rhino 33 in Maya 51 in Carrara 80 in Lightwave 123 in Cinema4D 143 in 3DMax And.... 2792 in Poser... If you are new to 3D, you get the impression that Poser is the place to be... Anyway, there are some amazing images that people have done here and I think it is a shame to have then not shown to the world... Quote
higginsdj Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 Could be that people using those other packages are spending more time animating than rendering stills...... Stills are good but animation is better :-) Cheers Quote
