  1. are you extracting the file first? i can't figure it out....nuns you try opening it, curry can you get it to work? any one with v13 try and open it and give it to tan...i'll try and figure something out my self...

  2. i am going to post an update of the castle now. mage have you figured out a way for the wings?

    EDIT: i embedded it this time and it should work...

     

    save the wing model from this its only a project file, i expect it to work, plus i figured it would be cool to post the winged mushroom file is nuns wanted to mess with it...which he still hasn't said anything about....

    as of in efficient, unless you want to use radiosity and have every frame render for 5 hours+ (which is a total under statement, that living room scene i did [the one with radiosity] took 18 hours to render, the worst part is that it didn't turn out right) then this is pretty much the only way. if you get the settings right you will only need the bulb lights to lighten dark areas of models and not shadows. doing this allows for efficient render times, it may be alot of lights but really its not that bad. just think about how dark areas would be in a real life situation and take as many short cuts as possible without sacrificing a looking render. remember lighting is one of the most important stages, if you do it badly/lazily than all that other hard work wont be done justice...

  4. ok well one since its a boys room(and didn't notice the urinals lol) then and purple or pink color is not acceptable...now if you want a light color and shade of blue is ok.

     

    as of the lighting hers what you do, it requires a lot of lights but it should be effective. you have the bulbs at the roof i see, so go ahead an put kleig lights on those reaching half-way(or almost) to the floor and the softness of 100%. do that with all the lights. after that the place will still be pretty dark. all you need is allot of low intensity bulb lights all over the room each one is non specularity and does not cast shadows. put them any ware necessary to lighten up dark areas. another thing is for your kleig lights turn the shadows to z bufferd then set the shadow softness to around 30% or 50%, doing this gives a kinda ambient occlusion look. you can also set the shadow darkness any ware from 60% to 30%. try adding you own stuff you think might work, but these are things that i use. soft and light shadows and a couple of bulbs were used for the living room scene i made(non radiosity one). but that one was for one angle, so try and make the room acceptable from all angles(or all the necessary ones anyway)...hope this helps...

    BTW, why 3 copies? protection against coincidence?

     

    for three cases(or more):

     

    1. you lose the file

    2. the file some how is corrupted

    3. you messed up something and ended up saving it

    4. some thing very random and extraordinary.....

     

     

    3 is better than two at anytime in fact for important models i make, i have around 5 copies some in ZIP files.

     

    (what do you think of the header?)

    after reading some more i realized something, how come you guys arent backing up your files? you should have a minimum of 3 copies for every single model, material, project file or what ever, if you don't you'll be sorry......

  8. hey everyone, sorry i've been gone again.

    my aunt has cancer and we traveled from Florida all the way to Oklahoma to see her!

     

    any i've seen the progress and i like the castle! as of the wings i'll link them a again but this time i'll do it a bit differently.

     

    the fact that the wings are a lower version than you guys could be the cause of the problem...tell me exactly what happens when you try to load the wing model....

     

    and i'm still waiting on the update my mom should have gotten months ago...

     

    also i like the new site, but once i update that header image has got to go! ;)

     

    and i still don't like letting the possibly largest forum on the hash forums just die out.....

  9. i really don't like this....all those post in the other one....we could have a record of the most post in the hash forums. plus i still think this is pointless...its just not really necessary...i say end it, the other topic really shows that you guys have been making progress...this is just well..."Feh"

  11. i doo pretty well with just looking around the internet, you can try turbo squid, image search engines, and in some cases you can edit image from regular pictures to suit your needs. another thing you can do with textures found is add them to combiners for better looks.

  12. maybe you should try getting a site back up....freewebs would be the simplest bet until you can get a better site, they have a forum and all, and using brave net you can password protect it.

  13. yeah didn't i have that in the drawing(the first one),and i didn't send the material with it? i'll have to do it tomorrow, second as of the wings simply put them in the chor.(short for choreography) and just position the wings on the castle. to add the second wing the put the same coordinates and add a negative next to number of the coordinates if needed, this is a cheap way to flip the wings over perfectly. the wing material is working right?

     

    i'll be on the community tomorrow for any questions and also i'm gonna link lighting and rendering set-up you guys can use for the move, its basically a good reference... i'll link it when i'm done.

  14. sorry but that moat wont work, water does not round up over the ground lol....

     

    i like the color of the castle, it still needs some work, the pillar things on the corners weren't hanging and were connected to the corner, try finishing the castle before you put it in an environment, if you "do" do the environment make it a separate model.
