  1. Finally got everything working. One of the rules is that both cameras can not be plugged into the same usb controller. My mac pro has 8 usb ports all driven by 1 controller. So no go on the mac pro.

I used my other system which did have more than 1 controller built into the mother board.

Attached is my very first mocap. I am extremely impressed. I have the cameras 28 feet away from each other which is too far and they are at the non optimal angles and yet I got this amazing result my first try. This is truly powerful.

See attached. You can view it in BVH hacker which is free.

Go ahead and have it drive your humanoid model.

I am extremely impressed with how smooth it is. No jitter at all. Almost all the True bones motions I purchased had lots of jitter. I wonder if I can run them through ipi to remove the jitter?

Well I guess there is no point because I can simple create the move myself as the actor.

I wonder if this is a viable revenue stream?

  2. So I finally got everything in the mail. I cant seem to get both cameras working at the same time in ipi recorder. both cameras work just not at the same time. Bummer. I hate Windows.

I used to be a hard core PC guy. Now I love mac. My biggest gripe with PC is things like this. Everything is always theoretical. In theory if I get all this stuff and install this software it should work. On a mac. It just works. I remember others trying to sell me on mac. WHat finally made me switch was was people who were not half as technical as me were getting results on mac and I was like did you do this? Did you have to customize your bios, Go into device drivers, get that special capture card? They said no I just bought the mac and plugged in my camera.

Sorry about my rant. This always seems to be the case with when microsoft is involed.

  3. Have a look at the resurface plugin...

I think the better approach is to do it manually so... having to use a very dense mesh etc is just not good practice.

    maybe for cloth or something....

    See you

    *Fuchur*

Yes but isn't the goal to be able to import a poly model and use it? The rotopoligy tool is designed to help expedite that right? So Why not try to go all the way if we can? Speed things up if its possible. I agree a dence mesh is not that great. Except for cloth.

  4. I think Steffen is creative enough and smart enough to figure that out eventually. I know its very easy to say coming from my point of view. The guy who does not know how to do it. But in my imagination I would think there has got to be a way to detect the mesh of the polys in 3d space and then constrain the cylinder around that prop.

I tired putting a deflector on a prop and then laying some cloth over it but although the prop accepted the deflector it had no effect against the cloth. I tried this on the mac version of AM. I will try again on pc.

If this were possible it might be an example of how some sort of detection could be applied and allow a cylinder to snap to the surface of the prop like cloth with heavy friction.

  5. I was emailing with Raf the other day. I asked him what it would take for him to make a Face machine for AMV17. He said AM had a special place in his heart, but he also said he had made almost half a million dollars off The Face machine for mia. He said he didn't think he would make enough money for the AM community to make it worth it.

    Too bad.

  6. This feature seams like it has so much potential. From an outside point of view it begs the question can we refine or evolve the feature so that you could lathe a dens cylinder around the prop and have the tool auto snap the cylinder to the prop. The top and bottom of the cylinder could be manually snapped to seal the hole at the top and bottum.

Steffen has a plugin that does something similar already with spline models. I forget what its called but its kind of like the old push plugin.

  7. My mac 8 core died on me after 3 years. The processors over heated. The computer was scrap. I wen to the mac store and they said it was out of warenty and it would be 1200.00 to replace the parts.

The guy said let me just change something in the system. 3 days lator I picked up my mac free of charge with brand spankin new processors , and mother board in it.

My wifes mag safe power adapter died on her. A new one was like $45.00.

She went to the mac store. and it was out of warenty. They gave her a brand new one anyways.

No charge. And they never charge for diagnostics.

I am impressed with apple care. And I never even purchased it.

  8. Ok OK.

Yes I own 2 HP systems. They are good. However if the choice was between HP and Mac , I highly recommend the mac. I agree I contradicted myself with the Boxx comment. When going with High End systems AKA Xeon get the mac. WHen going with Lower end systems AKA i7 get the Cyberpowerpc.

I look at it as bang for your buck. Cyberpower pc is going to give you the best hardware at a fraction of the price. I personally believe The ASUS motherboards are better than the proprietary boards in the HP. However the Mac is behind on motherboards. No 6gps sata 3 no usb 3 and no SLi. This shouldn't impact you to much. If you can wait there is some evidence that APple will release a 16 core aka Dual 8 xeon with the updated motherboard and Thunderbolt in the next 3 months.

Honestly I don't feel you should get a high end system. Bang for your buck you could get 3 or 4 cyber powerpc's for the price of 1 Highend box or mac.

Those extra systems can be render nodes for AE and AM.

  9. And Adobe really recommends this HP Z800. I see there is no SSHD ability... is that a cool thing to have?

What a waste of money. Go with a mac if you want to pay hi prices. I own an 8 core mac pro. I bought it in Late 2007. Only now has any other pc been able to keep up with it. Its a dual boot. No issues Booting into windows. In fact my best experience with windows has always been on a mac

  10. I have owned and used a few boxes in my time. They are very good computers but extremely over priced not unlike Apple. The Cyberpower system I have assembled below can hold its own up against the boxx. Its $1500 vs $6k. Even if the box prices were the same you are getting more with the cyberpowerpc.

  11. Yes true. In my case I want to be able to have 2 render servers. Why? Because my normal render server is not always available to it may be rendering After effects projects.

But like I said Jason is taking care of me so I have no issue.

  12. This is what confused me. An I still don't understand.

I own the actual official CD of AM 16. And I own the EB subscription. I purchased the CD additionally because I wanted to run AM on other systems when My main system was rendering AE stuff. This is how the old AM 15 CD had always worked and is why it was more expensive I thought.

It seems now that the CD is just a piece of plastic? Because it tells me the key has already been used.

Jason said he would get back to me. But he is under the impression I want to transfer a license which is not the case.

Secondly when I initially installed the software the messengers did not load correctly. I fixed this issue by wiping th drive and re installing Windows. Pain in my arss.
