I tried a few times to get the AO in the shadow render, but with no luck. You said something about an AO buffer? I don't know where to find that. I don't know enough about the EXR file and compositiing to know what I'm doing. I may end up sending you the project to see if you can get it. I'll render it, if need be.
This tut will get you started.

You definitely have the whole "Sports Center" thing down. Nice render!
So each frame rendered in 30-40 seconds? wow.
You could cut the total render time down to 2 1/2 hours (more or less) if you have a multi core processor and you render via AM v16 netrender.

Not too shabby for a single days work. Congratulations!
... that lady groundhog is a real looker!

The prj file crashes both my v15 and my v16 when I try to load it.

Very nice images!
Looking forward to A:M 16 in an usable version,What parts are not usable for you? Have you submitted descriptions and steps to repeat the problem(s) to A:M Reports?
-
Ouch. Never seen that before.
-
That's looking pretty good so far
-
much better

Is it possible to make a link to the online A:M FAQ site at the top of the forums by the links to AM:Stills and AM:Films? That might make it a little easier to find, especially for people who don't know it exists.

Great video Robert.

2. Displacement Maps are faster than additional geometry?
In my experience, displacement maps seem to render much slower than geometry - if the geometry has the same level of detail as the displacement.
But other people don't seem to have the same experience as me, so not sure why my experience is so different ....
Also, normal maps tend to look better than bump maps, but there is more work involved in making them. One tool that you might want to look at is called nDo. It is a free Photoshop tool that greatly eases the creation of normal maps, wither from scratch or from existing images.

Well the endeavor seems to have worked for them. Good for them!

Look for the link for "Example Face (11/11/09)"

It's Mr. Wizard!
If you want it to look more like a gnome, you might shorten the legs and arms quite a bit, make the feet a little larger and give him more of a belly. But he's looking pretty nice the way he is.

I prefer the feathery wings.
Bat wings on a cupid is a little creepy.

That's a great background Will. I think it's a great idea to save yourself as much work as possible in the 3D stage.
If you have a kick a$$ story, you could even give it the South Park treatment and people would still applaud it. But your artistic talent is definitely an asset.

holy crap it's my birthday. I knew it was coming up sometime soon, but it just kinda snuck up on me. Thank you for all your kind wishes.
if an apple a day keeps the doctor away, eat 2 to keep his nurse at bay as well...Thanks Matt, but why would I want to keep the nurse at bay? ... unless it's a dude ...

As I recall it there is no such thing. Black CPs don't flash because you haven't assigned them to anything yet.
Only the CPs you've assigned to a Bone will flash. (That's how you know what you've assigned)
As long as I can remember, I always selected the default model bone when i wanted to see if I had any unassigned CPs, because CPs assigned to the Default Bone (black CPs) always flash when you select the Default Bone.
-
Just go into bone mode and click on the background. This selects the model bone and makes any unassigned CPs flash.
But that is the problem I am facing. I CANNOT find and black flashing CPs in my model.
That is good. It means all your CPs are assigned to bones that you created. The default bone does not go away. It is always there ... lurking ... waiting ...
-
Look through every pose folder under the model in the
folder. Find any channels that exist for the Model Bone and delete them. We had some similar problems with models in Scarecrow of Oz with models rigged in earlier versions of A:M. It turns out there were a few poses in which the model bone was hidden. When we removed those channels, everything worked properly again.

I think I am now understanding the fuzzless feeling that Holmes might have been getting from Victory Multimedia....
EDIT: I am also seeing on other threads ....
Thank you for that link Nancy. I guess my impression was not too far off.

What we learned form TWO and SO is that making a movie is hard but getting people to watch it is even harder.
Streaming, streaming, streaming. That's where the distribution market is heading.
Perhaps netflix should be reconsidered? I remember reading something about Holmes saying he felt uncomfortable making a deal with them, when they were willing.
Martin contacted Netflix and they referred him to their distributor, Victory Multimedia. Then Martin conveniently packed off to Africa and left me to deal with the Distributor guy. I read through the contract and then talked to him on the phone for maybe 10 minutes. I didn't get much of a warm fuzzy feeling from him, but maybe that's just me. Then I decided to just wait until Martin got back and let him deal with it. Martin didn't want to deal with him either.
If you want to deal with the guy, I'm pretty sure Martin still has all the contact information.

Try moving the camera. Does that help?
