  1. Ahh - Spline rings - now I follow. I found some useful links for Hip and Shoulder bone setups that look interesting and will explore those.

I'm going to try to 'shrink' the ribcage. somewhat. The Roto was a Shi drawing (front and side) supplied by the copyright owner some years ago when he put out a request for modellers to generate a 3d model for him so I was guestimating the ribcage/shoulder area of the model when splining her.

I've been following the TSM2 procedures and have lots of stage copies :-). I have some terrible deformations in the hip area whilst the shoulders, knees and elbows are manageable but easily fixed.

    Cheers

  2. All you need to do now is to select and delete all the splines you don't need. This should maintain the shape of the sphere.

You could do it in reverse and just add more spliens to a low patch sphere in the area you needed but then you would need to tweak them all (via the bias handles) to maintain the smooth spherical shape.

    Cheers

  3. 'needs three rings' ????? No idea what you mean.

The bones in the body are the ones supplied by TSM2. So if I actually remove those 'extra' bones TSM2 won't care when it comes time to hit the TSM2 Rigger?

Re the model - well I shortened the legs from the original roto at mid thigh. I might stretch it back to original and then scale down (Y scale) from the waste. This will scale the crotch area down in proportion to the legs!

    Cheers

  4. Thanks Mike but knowing exactly where to position the bones is half the trouble. See my current positioning.Bones.png

Good/Bad positioning? Any and all advice welcome. Just in case you are wondering - I have never rigged a model before

    Thanks for the link too.

    Cheers

  5. Heres the answer to 1.

    1. Open A:M (applies to v11.1)

    2. In the PWS right click on Images, Import, Image Sequence

    3. A:M presents you with a Open Image/Animation Dialogue Box

    4. Browe to your folder containig the render sequence

    5. Select the FIRST Image file only (assuming they are all correctly numbered *000.tga to *xxx.tga you would select the file *000.tga)

    6. Ensure that the "Import as a sequence of images" checkbox is checked then click open

    7. The sequence has now been imported

    8. Expand your chor

    9. Drag and drop the Image sequence (under images) on top of the camera in the chor

    10. This will add a Rotoscope1 icon under the Action folder of the Camera

    11. Right click on properties of the Rotoscope1 Icon

    12. Set the "On Top" item to ON

In the timeline/scrubber - Play/Loop. If you use the playrange settings in the timeline to limit the playback of the chor then let it play/loop a few times. The first few times may be rough but it does clear up to smooth (at least thats what happens on my system - about 3-5 loops and its a clean real time play)

    Cheers

  6. OK,

So I am down to step 5/8 adding new bones/smartskin using TSM2. I need references/advice for:

    1. Breast movement (suitable for spring system?)

    2. Shoulder (Smartskin or Bones? - examples)

    3. Hips (Smartskin or Bones? - examples)

This will be to set up my female characters:

  7. Hey Steve - Please don't think it was a complaint (many thanks for popping in on Sunday by the way :) ) I was just interested if it was a 24/48hr/longer turnaround since the web site didn't mention it (unless I am suffering domestic blindness again :D ).

    Cheers

  8. Here's my 2 cents worth....

Exactly what would Hash be certifying? The fact that you can animate or build a model to a certain standard or just have reached a level of proficiency in the use of their software?

The MSCE example is to 'qualify' someone in the use of Microsoft products and not in what it produced by those products.

So what value is there to be gained in having Hash certify that I can use their software?

It would seem to me that the showreel you present to a prospective employer is your certificate of competance!

    Cheers

  9. Ummmmmmm....... No. You can do it in real time in A:M - in the chor viewer - you don't have to render it out in full.

You can scrub it and play it just like you can in an Action window. (You can use the play range settings to adjust just what part of the chor you wish to scrub/loop as well)

I haven't tried it with large images (just 480x360 tga's and they run real time) so there may be some performance issues (ie image stutter) but I get this with other packages as well. I'm running mine via Win XP Home on a P4 3ghz Laptop with 512mb RAM.

    Cheers

  10. Are there any good/fast riggers out there (TSM1 or TSM2 equivalent) who would be willing to rig this model for me. You can keep the model as payment (It will still be my model but you can you it as if it were one of the Hash CD models)

If you don't think the model is worth it please let me know (I do have great difficulty in judging the 'quality' of my own work)

    Cheers

  11. Well I wipped up a quick model today in preparation for the December Image contest (shame I can't rig or shade the model as quickly as I can model them :( )

Take a look and let me know what you think. I'd really love some advice on how to achieve that typical comic book shine and reflectance for the outfit without going toon. Some ideas about heroine fashion wouldn't go astray either (I'm not a comic book reader)

  12. Its easy to do it in A:M

    1. Import the Sound

    2. Drag and drop the Sound onto the Chor

    3. Import your Targas as Image Seqence

    4. Add the Imported sequence to the Default Camera as Roto

    5. Delete the default ground and all lights from the chor

    6. Click and drag on the sound in the chor (just like you would with an action) until the sound and the lip movement are in synch (you can use the timeline scroll just liek you do in an action).

    7. Render out

    Cheers

  13. The Dongle version will give you access to the NET version of A:M - ie a small renderfarm version (standard donlge is 3 Licenses) I think the Net version also offers a couple of extra features as well. The 3 Lic version costs about $50US in addition to the cost of the A:M CD (and follows the same upgrade regiment as the CD)

You will also need to download the Net version (Currently running around 16-17mb) The Dongles does NOT work with the CD version (at least mine never has)

My dongle is just a USB key. Stick it in your USB1 or 2 port and away you go.

    Cheers

  14. Import as tga sequence and save as MOV - what a great feature. (and it works great) but it doesn't include sound and you can't apply post (as far as I am aware)

Using the sequence as a camera roto allows you to add sound and all the post effects under the sun! (just remember to delete the ground from the default chor)

I just tried both methods - Works a treat - in v11.1 at least

    Cheers
