  1. the hair has way too much specular intensity, ( at least I think that's what is causing the overly bright and hard look ),

Hey Paul, I've come across just the info you may need, apologies if you already know this.

This is taken from Vern's Happy Bear thread: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...=60entry57099

    Vern said:

Yes, the "tinsel" wig look can be overcome by using higher multipass settings. It is the aliasing artifacts that give that look.

    Hope this helps. B)

  2. Yes I see what you mean about the image, in the original parts of the candles seem to be letting less light through.

I can't think why, does anyone else reading this have any idea what is happening here?

You may want to see if you get further feedback John and send this to hash support if you get no joy.

    Good luck. B)

  3. It's looking alittle smoother now Patrick. :D

If you want to speed the fall up you can delete some frames in the fall sequence.

Don't forget to add blinks  , they really help bring you character to life. It also helps to turn the head further towards the camera at times so that the viewer gets to see facial expressions as Shaggy puts all that effort in.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Hi Thierry, Your hero is a great peace of work! :D

I like the plaster on his head, it gives us a clue as to the type of person he is.

You've put him in a nice setting also, suits him well.

Well done Thierry, keep those posts coming. B)

By the way, your English is alot better than my French. ;)

  5. Nice work Kyle! :D

    It's only 6000 patches, too.

Have you rendered 6000 patches before?

If you post a wireframe maybe one of the experienced guys can help with the render problem.

It has a color, bump, and reflectivity map. Might that have anything to do with it?

May well do, they may be usinga fair bit of memory.

When it froze did your computer still work? If you had no other probs check if the hard drive is still being accessed during the 'freeze'. If you don't have enough memory the program will be using hard drive instead of memory making things really slooooow....

    Hope this helps. B)

  6. Here is another Picture of fw190

Nice pic. Mark, Keecat certainly look like he's enjoying himself! :D

You could make it even better if you rerender without cast shadows, the only shadow cast is on the clouds background. You still get shading so give it a try.

About the decals Mike I had the same problem I am not sure 100% but I cleared AM (Closed all windows) started new CHor and brought in my model and everthing came back You also need to save the project as a model open model and in model window right click and select save it promps you for a dir and then it makes a mdl? file I think it was late and I was tried but I thought I lost the decals after I started playing around after I was done also. IF you saved the project it there you just have to close everthing then open the project or model again.

Yeh, it's pretty confusing I saved my model and the decals disappeared before my very eyes.. :(

I started a new choreography and reimported the model, still no decals.. so I bailed out of AM without saving the project and when I reloaded the decals were back. :D

I have been advised to embed everything but KenH tells me that images aren't included, I've left a post asking if this includes decals.

I'm sure you can save with decals but I don't know how

Here's a challenge.. if you choose to take it.

    Great idea Rodney! :D

I don't know about Mark but I'd like to get to grips better with the program first. ;)

At the moment I'm having to fight the program to get it to do what I want (see my recent posts). If I can't save my own work properly then it'll get a whole lost worse sharing files.

  7. Hay sound like a CD from Keekat with a get well message and happy retirement sound in order ;)

Be sure to post it Mark

Calvin & Hobbes meets James Bond style adventures

Look forward to that one. B)

Hey guys I've finished the FW.....at last....longest 2 hours of my life ;)

I've already posted one problem I came across in the New Users section but here's another....

I saved the model in a file outside of the AM directories (I keep all of my files there in case I have to reinstall AM) and as soon as I did all the decals vanished from my model!!??!! :( ..VERY ANNOYING>>

Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong will be gratefully received.

Oh and here's the completed model. Exam coming up but I should be starting the giraffe by the weekend. Five hours..???? <_<

Thank you for listening, hypnomike has left the building....

  8. Hi Rich! :D

That's a great model you're animating, is it one of yours?

There are some nice effects in your walk cycle, the skin movement in particular impressed me.

I've been watching it on a loop for a while and I have a couple of suggestions which I hope will help.

When the back foot comes up heel first it may look a little better if you bend the toe until the foot leaves the floor. It may also help to speed things up a little as the stride appears to be on the slow side.

Nothing seems to be happening to the face. I know this is a walk cycle but the face seems to make the character look a little robotic compared to the very human body. It may be better to do this in choreography so that you can introduce more secondary movement without having a face cycle.

Hope this helps and keep posting. B)

  9. Nice work, very expressive! :D

Great attention to detail inside his mouth.

Something about him reminds me of the movie "Enemy Mine." Anyone remember it?

Sure do, I enjoyed that film, didn't get the recognition it deserved though.
