apparently...

I have a nice car, but my wife likes to shop at Dollar Tree (everything in the store is $1).

Well Done!!!

That's pretty cool... does it render smoothly? Can you set it to generate less-dense geometry?
Yes, you can set a target poly count! What would be cool is to be able to bring it in with the UVs and easily use the higher res version to generate displacement. I think I will still be able to do that, but it may take another step...
I'm thinking that I could take a textured version from A:M out as an .obj and bring it back into Zbrush and use the high-res details to generate a displacement map. Or maybe TROER might be a way (but it wasn't able to open this one...)

The last udate to Zbrush has an automatic retopology tool that will analyze the sculpt and remesh it to quads. Here is a test using the .obj import in a modeling window:

Oh! Well, good luck with that!

If the bones are driving facial animation, why won't weighting their influence suffice? A bone doesn't have to be snapped to the same position as a CP to move it. A limited number of bones could account for ALL of the CPs in the face (you might even auto weight them).
-
What if you were using a face rig like ZignTrack on your characters? Since it is, or can be, bone based animation, the facial animation ( or poses) from one character will work on another with the same rig. Just like other actions in A:M.

Here is a Yoda head from Thingiverse.com printed in natural PLA.
First picture is it with the support material on the build platform. The second picture is it cleaned-up next to one that has a coat of primer on it. The primer fills in some of the stair stepped look. I think a little putty and sanding would make it pretty smooth. This was printed at standard quality

It does give you pause when your kickstarter falls flat. Especially when you are raising money for a film, because that film is intended to be shown/sold to an audience (right?)
So after my kickstarter, I had to wonder if TAR was such an awesome project because the response was very tepid as I wrote about here.
I have continued to work on it, but I have really spun out... I am at a loss for meaning, I can't answer for myself "why" I am making it, and I can't even delude myself that an audience is waiting for it.

All doing different stuff now.... It's kind of depressing to me. most of the people that I knew in the beginning, from the creators who made the software, to the dreamers who were creating awesome things with it are gone. [not everyone, but most...]
Martin used to get mad when anyone saw A:M as just a "tool"--it was something more than that. But that dream does seem to be over

Is there enough work to put together an A:M showreel like this 2013 one for Blender?

Congratulations!

I'm curious why you signed up...? I guess you "pin" stuff that you like so other people can browse it

Here is a break down of mine:

Try using Ambience instead of Flat shading. You could make your ambience 75% and still pick up the shading in A:M
-
I think leave it as is--the mascot changes pretty frequently, not on a calendar year, so we could just have more contests
-
It would be cool to rotate around the camera target from the camera view, in the same way as other views. Sometimes the camera navigation can be tricky--because it is analogous to traditional camera moves (but why keep be limited to that?)

Toon! --and I like the simple background too
I've been learning an app called Procreate on my iPad to create digital paintings to use as backgrounds for TAR of Zandoria. When I look through the "Art of _____" books that accompany many CG movies, one of the things that I find is that I like he look of the 2D concept paintings much more than the 3D scene in the movies...So I thought I might be cool to just paint everything and layer it all together.

I'm ready to see the entries!!! I keep hitting "show new posts"

This isn't what you are after... I don't know the answer to that... but I'll off this:
For the mobile commuter I recommend a sketchbook (with accompanying pencil or pen).
You'll be amazed with the amount of ideas that will transfer from that sketchbook into A:M later.
There is another aspect to this suggestion and it is that unplugging from computers/electronic devices from time to time is a very good thing.
Exercising different skillsets will refresh and heighten creativity.
The real benefit: Once you get back to your computer you'll have a concrete plan to follow when using A:M.
Great suggestion!!!

Congratulations and good luck! Create Space looks pretty interesting--I see that they do DVDs and video streaming too!
