  1. not sure...sounds like the vertices are not welded. I have Zbrush, so I would use that to modify an .obj from Hash, since you can use dynamesh to rebuild and it would fix that.

I'm going to have to set aside some time to learn these new tools and really get the most out of them

  2. I haven't watched the introductory videos...but, it is pretty lame to be so defensive about a harsh critique--a new purchaser of the software isn't going to care that it was done by a volunteer.

I think this is a valid point. Are u interested in doing one Will?

    See u

Yes, but I am very rambling and drawl my words with a southern accent ;) Maybe what we need is a talented voice-over from someone like Greg Rostami!!! We could do the demos, and someone more polished could narrate overtop--that would give it some cohesiveness.

  3. I really liked it! I liked how they dealt with his childhood/ origins as just a couple of flash backs and really, really liked how they gave a reason for him to trust and care about Lois lane--that was just really well written!

  4. The .mtl file is a little weird...writing all the properties out in one line. it does look like it is loading the image as diffuse color and as transparency (d)...I'll make time to play with this and see if I can figure out. The layer object using the .png image is probably the best way to use if you don't need to be up close

  5. I haven't got a chance to try in A:M, but tried in Vray--I had to load the leaf.png twice, using it for diffuse color and for transparency. The .mtl file may not be referencing the map twice (which is an easy fix in a text editor)

  6. 3D Painter is an awesome tool for A:M! Just add (blank) image to your decal container and set it to diffuse, specular, bump, cookie, whatever and when you open the model in 3D painter, you can select that image to paint on. You can bring these different images back into Photoshop and mix them together (eg. using bump layer as soft light over the color layer) and save them back out.

  7. the Ottoman project looks pretty cool!--looks like Mike, Jim, Dhar, and a few other A:M alumni involved. And based on their blog--looks like the online collaborators were able to meet-up for a "hash-bash" type of get together.

I really miss that community that we had back in that era when the first hash-bash happened and we all stayed at Martin's house and everything was possible....

  8. I will not be upgrading personally (CS6 Master Collection). The only reason that the company I work for upgraded in the past was that we received files that we couldn't open because they were from a newer version--now we will just request that they resend in a legacy format or send a print-quality .pdf --there has been nothing feature-wise that is worth the cost of the upgrades....
