  1. Folks, I've been struggling to work this sporran into something suitable for the cover of an event program. The cover is a full color, full bleed 8.5 x 11 deal where I have the full reign on the design. It is for a Scottish Highland Games, so the theme is obviously...Scottish. My current idea is a sporran (see below). But something seems lacking, so I'm seeking any ideas from the forum..
  2. I'm not familiar with the poem. I suppose I have to keep reminding myself that when one says "celtic" it encompases Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. I lean more to Scotland where mythical characters are markedly less friendlt than in other areas. There are no gossomar winged pixies in the Highlands. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product, though. Sounds like your well on the way to a success.
  3. Added some more to this little clip. Now it almost tells a story. Let me what you think, what could be changed/done different. And otherwise enjoy Eugene he Pumpkin Stealer
  4. Hey Smudge, you mentioned earlier that this story is based on a Celtic tale. May I ask which one. I've studied a lot of the auld tales from Ireland and Scotland and was wondering on how arrived at the characters (ie the looks of Sprites). I've tried to put a face to some of the Celtic lore characters like kelpie, sith (pro. she-he) red caps etc. Just curious.
  5. I'd thought of that, but don't know if you can get sprites to collide with and not penetrate an object. Any thoughts?
  6. Was playing around for the shear fun of it and came up with the following holloween classic. The skeleton is our old pal eugene. I used TSM to rig him. The rest I threw together. Shows a wee bit of flame on the candle..good practice of constraints (using the "Door is stuck tut") Enjoy...as always crits are welcome Eugene
  7. Honest officer I've never seen him before! really. I do like the mouth better though.
  8. Ok here's some changes. Thinned out the arms, changed the hands to white, added some roughness to the eraser. I'll post some anims of facial poses later today.
  9. Started playing around with an idea. Let me know if this guy demonstrates a personality. If not what could be different so that it would for you?
  10. Dave, What's it going to take to get this off the ground? Rather than debating the pluses and minuses of this why don't we roll this puppy out and see how it goes?
  11. Ok I tried posting this thru the mail forum but didn't see it come thru so I'm gonna repeat here. I'm in, all the way! A happy apprentice I'll be. The only question I have is "qualifying" as apprentice, since I didn't do the tutorials. I have done many simple projects on my own. Would that work if there was some sore of review process??
  12. Had some time on my hands and a little toy on my desk inspired this model. I'm thinking now to re do the eyes and get some more expression out of him. Let me know what you think. Here's a test Walk Cycle
  13. Here's a quick test. Close project...bring in bump map, set key color to not set, import chanter, apply image, increase percentage to 300%.
  14. Aye lads that's the stuff. I also found that the chrome material obscured the bump more than I wanted, so after the new blurred image, removing the chrome material we have this.
  15. Thanks on the tip with the blur..I'll play with that and see if I get the effect I want.
  16. Thanks guys for the input..I made sure the key color was not set and even bumped the percent up tae 600% and it didn't make much of a difference. I suspect the image being used as the bump, and since it wasn't overly important to make it an etched look, just something I wanted to play with, I decided to change the the decal type to color and this is the result. Now to the next step..I'll be putting this chanter to use as a beginners bagpipe tutorial, and "lip-synching" the fingering positions to the respective notes, then allowing the student to enter notes, songs etc and have the program move thru the finger positions. I'll write it in visual basic, the only question is how to animate the hand movements. I'm thinking rendering out stills of each note, then using these as slides in the application. Any one have thoughts on this?
  17. Still in process...met with a corporate finance laywer last weekend. He specializes in getting companies ready for financing, his sons are NYC finance lawyers specializing in first and second tier venture funding. So we're hopefull this will produce what we need. Believe me you all on the forum will be the first to know!
  18. Folks, I'm working on a side project using this practice chanter. I wanted to dress it up and add a bump map to the chrome collar. But the tga image doesn't seem to create the definition I wanted. The decal was applied with as a cylindrical decal, type bump. Any ideas on how to best set up a bump map to get this decal to show as etched in the chrome?
  19. I'm putting together a demo animation for a celtic rock band and I'd like some thoughts on the character animation. I'm not entirely happy with the timing but that may be simply myself being overly critical. So I'm looking for another set of eyes on it. There are two files on this page, one is a rm file the other is a large (in size) avi. The url is http://www.scotiapublishing.com/haggis.htm
