  1. Sounds like Rhett fixed it up for you.

Next time when you commit and it suggests updating, do that.

Then if there is a conflict, it will create the .rxx .ryy .mine files which are backups of what you both started with, and both of your changes. Then one of us can resolve the conflict for you.

    Thanks

  2. Ok - I've read the above - and it's still gobble-de-gook this morning - even with a partially caffeinated brain.

    Trying to commit Mrs. Yoop:

I rt click on mrsyoop in my local directory - choose "SVN Commit". I get:

    Modified: 0Projects\TWO\data\Shared Data\Models\Actors\MrsYoop\MrsYoop.mdl

    Error: Commit failed (details follow):

Error: Your file or directory 'MrsYoop.mdl' is probably out-of-date

Error: The version resource does not correspond to the resource within the transaction. Either the requested version resource is out of date (needs to be updated), or the requested version resource is newer than the transaction root (restart the commit).

I do not get any other files anywhere with any other extensions.

Hi nancy. The "commit failed" "(needs to be updated)" error just means that you may have a conflict.

Update the file it mentions and it will either merge the changes and then let you commit, or tell you that you have a conflict.

    http://wiki.hash.com/two/published/SvnWalkthrough#commit

I'll update this part of the wiki to include the error message you got.

If you do get a conflict

    See http://wiki.hash.com/two/published/SvnConflicts

for instructions on how to get it resolved.

    See http://wiki.hash.com/two/published/SvnWalk...#avoidconflicts

for how to avoid conflicts in the first place.

Once you go through it once you'll see its easier than it seems.

    Thanks

Reverting a conflicted file takes it right from the newest revision. No need to update, no need to choose "resolve." Resolving will give you the same result if it's done right but it's easiest to just choose revert.

Just to clarify, you should only revert a conflicted file if you didn't make changes that you want to the file. Otherwise see http://wiki.hash.com/two/published/SvnConflicts

  3. There is an easy workaround for this problem.

Select channel cps that interpolate wrong.

Right click on that group and set the Interpolation Method to Default or what ever is approiate for that section.

The next version will repair this problem when it can, but some interpolations may have been changed by intel macs that we can't detect. For those instances channel cp interpolation will have to be adjusted by hand.

    Thanks

User Managers try to keep this up to date with your role changes Thanks.

Rember before you can commit your changes you must Request your SVN password using your forum username and the password.

    Welcome to the Team!

  5. That won't hurt any thing. You can delete them from your computer, but depending on your (svn / A:M svn settings) you may get them back once you re-update your local copy (recieve). I would suggest just doing nothing unless you need disk space. The only time you'll get those files updated is if some one actually changes and commits them, and then you'll only get the actual changes not the whole file.

  6. Hi TWO folks;

It's been I while since I last moved a CP or tweaked a spline due to work volume (good thing?), I wanted to take a peek at the current ste of TWO and see if I could contribute some tiny bits. I know that I need SVN to get the project(s) and I thought that I should go to the wiki to help me remember how to set things up. Using Firefox, I get nothing but a blank page and IE tells me that there was a problem. Is something fubar on my end or is the wiki floxed?

    Bill

    Working now?

  7. Thanks for all your help Ken. Still can't render the face cam view, ......

Face cam had an invalid FileName= line in it. If you edit it in notepad or other simple text editor you can change it to

    FileName=..\..\..\wootcam.tga

    and it will work.

If some one knows how the path got this way report it please.

    Thanks

  8. Edit-

Ahhh, I signed out of the community panel and A:M unexpectedly quit, Exception #023 Socket Error in Stream, I get the same error message now every time I try to sign in?

My computer is screwy <_ .....or its operator src="https://www.hash.com/forums/uploads/emoticons/minecraft_laugh.png" alt="">

This is probably meant that the community server needs to be rebooted.

  9. Interesting!

Anyone care to illustrate how a model's diffuse colour can cause a conflict?

This isn't the exact situation but ... the color was something like 1.2345 in say red, and one machine saved it as 1.2344, another machine saved it as 1.2346 due to floating point rounding issues. svn just sees that as a text line that is different. Its on my list to look into truncating the floating point accuracy on some things to reduce this problem.

That is why you should coordinate what you are working on with dotproject to keep the times that two people work on the same file at the same time to a minimum.

  10.

It appear that , here on my computer, the Winkeeville_Altest2.cho doesn't render well.

it is super slow , I got circularity error on herb1.mat ( hair )...and it even crash hard my computer !!!

What frame are you rendering what reslolution exact render settings please. I tried rendering to screen multipass one pass shadows reflections and hair, seemed to work fine.

In the future try to include the svn revision number (svn tab of the file properties on the pc).

Noticed that there are duplicate cps in some groups see http://www.hash.com/reports/example/fixgroups.jpg to turn on a registry setting to repair this.

    Thanks

  11. Awesome support and help getting all this stuff set up and helping us squash a few bugs right there.

Really? Any clues as to which ones? :)

Empty composites didn't play fair after a save.

    Lipsync dragging words in timeline

Face camera no longer pops up when adding a character with it.

Thats all I can remember right now.

  12. I am trying to colaborate in the TWO game project beginning by modelling, texture and animate the characters. I have allready talked with Greg Schumsky and Paul Forwood and even got the Torque exporter. Now I would need to get the character´s proxy models for use them as a starting point to build the game ones. Should I get acces to the svn repository? And if so, how can I get it?

    Thank you in advance,

Email your forum login name and the password you wish to use to willp@hash.com with svn login in the subject.

    Welcome aboard.

  13. Hello everybody,

I posted this in my help thread, but afterwards thought that this might be a better place...

I have svn and I just got done animating _2_01_10a, but when I press "send" my computer asks me if I want to save it first before sending and then it thinks for awhile. After it was done thinking I assumed that my stuff had been sent, but it turns out that it wasn't sent. Now I'm not sure what's going on and I have no clue what to do. I've tried sending it multiple times, but the same thing happens every time.

Here is the picture of the community panel after I hit send, it says something about 'commit failed (details as follows), so I thought this screen shot might help? I dunno.

    [attachmentid=16719]

Edit: shoot it doesn't have the option of adding the attachment? It's in my help thread in two animating. I'm not sure why it doesn't let me put it here though?

I just looked at my other thread and tried entering the attachment by hand, hope it works.

Ask steve to show you how to set it up before you leave here. Or email noel at hash dot com when you get back and we'll walk you through it.

  14. Hi all:

Sorry I won't be able to make it up to the Bash after all. I seem to have caught a cold that turned into a mild case of pneumonia. When Jody (Timelord) was going to pick me up on Sunday morning, I could hardly walk or talk. I'm a bit better now, but still fighting it. I really did not want to miss this :(

Everyone, please take lots of pictures and post them. I hope that some of the best stuff learned about AM can also somehow be shared with people that couldn't be there. I'll be kicking myself until the sun goes down.

    We'll have fun for you.

Here is a bit of what we've been up to.

    http://wiki.hash.com/two/published/HashBash2006

  15. First Receive

    ...

4.Press the ’Receive’ button. It will bring up a dialog asking for what folder you want the TWO data in.

What I get is an error that says "Failed to add directory... object of that name already exists."

The folder had to already exist or I couldn't have selected it, right?

http://wiki.hash.com/two/show/SvnTroubleShooting documents how we fixed this.

The message means that its trying to add a directory from the repository that you have on your machine's local copy of the repository that is not versioned. In this case it was not versioned because the ASP .NET hack was accidently turned on on a previous install of tortoise. We fixed it by turning the hack back on.

    Thanks Robert

  16. I reinstalled my OS and SVN no longer seems to know about my TWO folder on my hard drive.

How do I re-establish that association? I'm guessing I need a URL for Hash's TWO but I can't find it.

You should be able to just follow the walkthough instructions and it will reset you up.

    http://wiki.hash.com/two/published/SvnWalkthrough

let me know if that doesn't work.

    extra info you shouldn't need:

tools, options, svn, repository url should default to http://project.hash.com:8008/movie/svn/active/

tools, options, svn, path to svn local data should be where ever you put it.

    Good luck.

  17. Um, I may be misunderstanding what you are trying to do, but if you want something to be sent to someones local svn folder you just add it to the repository (add to your local and then send) and next time they update they will get it.

The only time this wouldn't work is if something only worked with abslolute paths, but A:M uses all relative paths.

As far as the library, A:M already adds the library folder in the TWO svn data to the library path based on the tools options svn path to the svn data.

  18. I think animators only need to update the "Shared Data" folder occassionally when they really need something in it, and so a long download time getting a bunch of stuff they don't need is not too bad, but modelers never want animation stuff (huge), and they certainly don't want to go rooting around trying to find which local directory to update, so I'm not convinced by Noel's argument.

Just an idea, only would be usefull to reduce the amout an animator needs to update if there ends up being a lot of models that are specific to a single act.

  19. I see from a modelers point of view why you wouldn't want to have to get all of act1 for just its models.

But moving models only in act1 to shared data means that an animator who only wants models that are in all acts and the ones specific to act1 would get all of act2 and act3's models.

So what we could do is, make it like this:

    [-]data

---[+] shared data (data in more than one act)

    ---[+] act1 shared data

    ---[+] act2 shared data

    ---[+] act3 shared data

    ---[+] act1 (chors etc)

    ---[+] act2 (chors etc)

    ---[+] act3 (chors etc)

That way modelers for act1 could just get act one models and animators for act1 would need act1 and act1 shared data.

I'll leave it up to you guys to talk it over and choose what to do. Remember to keep the data management part of the wiki up to data with what you decide. Also remember svn looses its history if you move or rename things locally so ask for my help if you need to rename or move a file or folder that is already on svn.

    Thanks

    Noel
