  1. He looks good! Something about him reminds me of the movie "Enemy Mine." Anyone remember it?
  2. Lol, I gotta see what sort of doggy things he is going to be doing.
  3. Hmm, I just tried at my Mom's house and it works but it won't let me save target as....
  4. Here is a turn around of my owl model. I plan to smooth him a bit more, add some talons and shape up his feet a bit. Then start rigging and decaling. Let me know what you think! Owl turn around
  5. That looks really good! How did you record it like that without rendering? Something like fraps?
  6. Nice! I think that added alot to it. I am kind of surprised his ears were never rigged before. You could fix the little kinks in his ears with just a quick smartskin on the ear bones. I am pretty sure you only would have to do a smartskin for one then you can mirrior all smartskins.
  7. Huh? Are you talking to yourself MATricks?
  8. Oh good call Shadowmaster! I would never have thought to move his ears. You could maybe perk one or both up a bit on the question also.
  9. Looks really good! It has been a while since I saw one of those comercials or anything but his hands seem a bit small to me.
  10. Looks like a nice light mesh. But maybe a bit too light on top. From the vertical stabilizers forward to the canopy it looks a little flat. Is this an F-15? What kind of reference images did you use? Overall looks pretty good!
  11. heh, no problem. But I was hoping that you would say it didn't cause problems. It seems like it is easier to get good definition on the nose and that little "crease", whatever you call it, running from the nose down along the sides of the mouth.
  12. Very nice models. I notice you have five pointers on the mother's upper lip. Does this not cause any problems for animating? I had come to the conclusion that this was the best spline lay out on a previous model of mine but abandoned it because it seemed like such a big no no.
  13. Hey David, I like your kung fu pickle I would be very interested in some more detailed info on this eye set up. Is there any chance of a tutorial?
  14. Hey Parlo, I love your sort of surreal style. I am wondering on the boy, what are the advantages of posing the hair in an action window rather than modelling them that way?
  15. Hi, looks like a nice model. I would think you could reduce the splinage around his mouth and nose a bit without losing animatability(is this a word?) Fewer splines means less to move around when making poses. That's all I have for ya.
  16. Thanks Darklimit. He is on a ground in this pic. Its pretty dark though. I was going for a sort of moon light look. I have a couple of problems I am hoping someone can help me with. The easy one first. I am using 10.5 and cannot figure out how to make a new pose slider folder. I am sure its somewhere obvious but I have been looking for a few days... Now the more difficult one. I mentioned it before, I cannot make spheres work for his eyes and that is the only type of eye that I have ever rigged. Please point me in the direction of a tut or something on how to rig an eye other than a sphere. Thanks in advance.
  17. Well, I got tired of smartskinning and fan boning so I started playing with lighting. This is the first serious attempt I have made at lighting anything. I don't really know what I am doing here, I just played around for a few hours I probably broke every rule in the book concerning lighting but I am over all pretty happy with the results. I think his upper body is a bit washed out but other than that I like it. Let me know what you think please. Oh, Javier I tried the toon render but I couldn't get it to look very good. I should probably check out some tuts on it and try later.
  18. That's very nice! Is this for anything specific or are you modelling just to model? I'm pretty interested to see what the rest of him (it?) will look like.
  19. Hi guys, thanks for the comments. -Ross- Yep, these are the new wings. I shaped them up a bit more and started rigging them. Been racking my brain trying to come up with a decent control system for them. -Darklimit- I also thought his feet look a little big but wanted to see if anyone else thought so before I changed them. I guess it is confirmed now so I will fix that. -JavierP- I haven't really messed with rendering much. I have been concentrating more on learning modelling and rigging. I may give it a shot soon though after I finish rigging him.
  20. Well, here is an update. I tweaked alot of his proportions and rigged his body except for wings and tail. I re-modeled the wings and they still need to be shaped up a bit more. He has fan bones but only the right side is constrained so this pose was made to try and hide the ugly parts
  21. These scales look alot better. Not at all like "sequined hoochie pants" anymore
  22. Well, thanks for the plug there Javier but I am by no means an expert. I think Kricket has some toon render tutorials somewhere (corrct me if I am wrong) and he has for more experience with the toon renderer than I do. As far as modelling, I am just modelling my Goliath from reference screenshots from the cartoon. I also have a Goliath toy which kind of helped and almost every episode on VHS . I didn't use rotoscopes but that's because I am lazy. In your case John, I would probably make some rotos since it is your design and you probably haven't got as much reference material. Good luck!
  23. Hi guys, thanks for the comments. Ross- I think you might be right about the nose. Kricket- I agree about the lips but not sure how you mean to straighten the chin. I have been working on rigging and fan boning his arms and legs. My plan was to move on to making and rigging the wings then rig the face and see how well it deforms before I alter it too much. Zaryin- This is how I modelled my wings but the patches would seperate from the bony parts when I moved them. So now plan is to make a spline as the cross section of the entire wing along the bottom and extrude it up and tweak it in to shape. Does that sound good to you Zaryin and Ross?
  24. And here is another screen shot from the side in the modelling window.
  25. Thanks, Zaryin. I was planning on redoing the wings anyway since mine don't work. His wings are pretty much extended too, just to the back. Do you have any advice on modelling the web? I'm having alot of problems there. Here is a wire frame of the front. I couldn't get the shaded wire frame to work in choreography mode for some reason. First try I got like noise and second try was black. So this is a screen shot from the modelling window.
