  1. Hello! Looks great; are you going to animate him? with that amount of hair, id imagine it would take ages to render! looks very good though for such a short time!

When you say you will try a displacement map, what for? Id add a bump map for some wrinkles but displacement maps are generally for much more severe shaping situations, perhaps adding a decal with drawn hair as colour and bump maps could look good.

    keep going bro!

  2. Someone from Hash should post a new topic in the main A:M forum. I've been skipping this thread since it was the same question that pops up every month.

    Same!

some really nice entries here, its a nightmare downloading them all but I wouldn't and couldnt vote without seeing ever one.

    Good Show!

  3. looking great, a subtle splash of a colour theme and some nice lighting would do it wonders. is it going to be sandy or rocky? did you get the light to project a fake caustic? perhaps projecting a looping video would be good for animation?

  4. The only guideline that I know of is that you must Interpret the word 'space' and create an animation from that; no specific modals or scenarios. make sure it's 320 by 240 in a cross platform codec, and can be any length.

    Hokay! ;)

  5. Well sir! I want a powerbook simply because they look so damn good! the grass is always a little greener isn't it! It's just that ive had a play with them at college, and they seem to do what you ask of them! but then I guess if I owned one and disrespected it they way I do my pc then it could play up just the same!

  6. ?

Prossesor wise, you want to keep away from the cut downs like AMD duron and Intel celeron, they are no frills versions. AMD and Intel arent Majorly different but some say that AMD Athlons are better than Pentium at 3d (for whatever reason) I personally chose my Athlon xp due to price, as they are alot cheaper than the Intel equivolent. As for Notebook graphics cards, I'd expect a Mobility Radeon by ATI would be right up your street, Something like a 9600 should be nice. Brandwise, Im not sure whats what; but as for networking macs and PC's - Mr Anzovin mentioned that they run a set-up Like that. - If hes around to help at this stage???? As for you switching to PC's, I have just started using macs at college and now dream of owning a powerbook! geez :(

  7. You have to render as a series of tga's and import into after effects as a sequence; Dont knoiw the exacts of that as I don't have AE but Make sure you Name your file in the render options something like 'example000.tga' and make a new folder for them because depending on the legnth of your animation, you will have hundreds of still images! (1 sec at 30 fps = 30 images etc.)

  8. Mike hart, It could be the camera angle, I have tweaked but not alot; probably the porcelain, it does smooth the mesh but yeah it takes away the subtle splinage I took ages fiddling with!

Mike Fitz, I understand, il test some poses with what I currently have, if its no good then I may have to implement what you have said. thanks for the advice!

Zaryin, Im not going to argue with you with an avatar like that! a little off-topic, but is that done in am? iv'e been wanting to see that creature in an image for a while now; any linkies? and off topic again, I think some-one should set up a 'what time zone are you in' poll!
