Dagooos Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 One quick question. Will you be implementing the fist closed pose in TSM2 ? (the one that can make a fist from any position) That was such a nice feature and Raf is the only one that knows how to rig it as far as I know. Thanks David Quote
John Bigboote Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Why let Raf have all the fun... do it yourself! After running your model thru TSM do this: 1- new pose, %, name LEFT FIST. 2-Turn on TSM constraints. 3- zoom in on Left fist and 'pose' it to your liking, using TSM2's finger-bend-roll-handles... I also use a little 'muscle mode' magic... 4- repeat for right fist with new pose. These poses are 'handy' to have just to keep your model from having a static hand in animation, just keep sliding those pose sliders back and forth during the animation, even if you never even go all the way to the closed fist... BINGO! If Raf made one with TSM it would prolly not work so well from model to model. Hope that 'elps! Quote
Dagooos Posted October 15, 2004 Author Posted October 15, 2004 Thanks John, but the problem with that is it's always additive. So after you position your fingers independently your fist pose will not work correctly. Raf did have hand rig where you could make a fist via pose slider no matter what position your fingers were in. I hope this makes sense Quote

I hope this makes sense We did plan to do the fist close pose for TSM2, but between doing the stretchy limbs and the scripting language and making it a plug-in, it kind of got sidelined. Part of the problem is that it's not something the TSM can do by itself--it requires input by the user to figure out exactly what the fist should look like, and the TSM isn't currently set up to be able to do that in an elegent way. We'll probably be including it in an update at some point. --Raf Quote
heyvern Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Raf, If this was possible to do without using TSM, is there a way to implement this from scratch? Don't want you to give away proprietary secrets of course, but this sounds like a cool feature and worth the effort to just "do it by hand" if you will forgive the pun. anzovin Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Raf went and mentioned the scripting language! Yes, TSM2 has an internal scripting language that people could use to create their own rig types for TSM to install. I.e., you would be able to use TSM2 as a general-purpose setup tool to install any brilliant rig you devise that we never thought of (or any crappy rig that you just like better). Look for user access to this feature in v2.5. Steve Anzovin Studio Quote

Yeah, it sure looks like you guys have had your hands full. This was such a clever little feature, I just wanted to see if you still had it in mind. From what steve says, it sounds like this is something that could be implemented with a script, once you release the new scripting language. Being able to install personalized rigs with the TSM2, now that sounds very interesting! Quote
