Srmjr Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 When, pray tell, might we expect this CD-Rom? Quote

Parlo Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 This project has taken alot longer than originally foreseen (for a whole bucket of reasons) but there will be something for public scrutiny soon.... I'm more than mildly excited by the material. Keep your eyes peeled..... Quote
Brain_Mesh_Agent Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 I saw the CD on the website but there was no buy button. I kept thinking my silly browser was acting screwy and clicking around for an invisible buy button but the CD is not yet available. Lol! I was wondering if this cd is going to have information about using tools that are only in A:M for matching camera motion or a moving object in the video footage. Or will it be more about the basics of doing video and 3D compositing like using front projection on objects for masking the 3D, and shadow catching objects. Will the CD also contain information on using A:M with products such as the SynthEyes motion video tracking tool? After looking at the hunter demo in AM-Films, and downloading the demo project from the website I am considering investing in this SynthEyes tool. It would be cool though if there were ways of doing similar things within A:M without having to spend a bunch of loot on the tracking tool. So basically what Im wondering is should I wait to buy the Live Action CD, before getting the tracking tool? Or will the two work together and the cd has tut's for use with the tracking tool. I have tried doing a video tracking proj. with A:M and the most frustrating thing is the fact that the rotoscope will disapear if I try to rotate or tilt the camera. Or its impossible to get an object to look like its really attached to an object in the video. The 3D object slides just a bit off, no matter how many keyframes I make. I haven't noticed any changes in how A:M handles the integration of video footage since I tried doing my own match moving stuff. I noticed with the syntheyes demo proj. that the camera is moving and rotating perfectly with the video footage. It seems to track to a bunch of pixels and makes something from that, but its probly much more complex to set up in the software. Quote
Parlo Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Originally the plan was to do a series of tutorials using A:M and other applications. But the more I worked on it (and in a series of discussions with Steve) I realised that so much is possible with A:M alone - a disc covering all the A:M native techniques would be of much more use and interest. If you are trying to learn the tuba, and you buy a book called "Learning the Tuba" and on the second page it says "In order to learn to play the tuba, you must buy a piano!"... you'd be pretty ticked off. So - The disc won't contain info on Syntheyes. I used the beta version of it, and was very impressed with both it's capabilities and it's relative ease of use. But for those who don't want to buy another tuba, and even for those who do, my tutorials cover pretty much every aspect of working with live action footage in A:M. There will be a few clips of the stuff covered in the tutorials available soon, and you'll be able to see what A:M is capable of. Quote

anzovin Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 If Sam keeps delivering the goods as he has been doing in the last week, I expect we will start taking pre-orders (at the usual discount) around Thanksgiving. Delivery will be in December, well in time for the holidays. I will keep yo all posted! Steve Anzovin Studio Quote
