Heiner
Hello, i am doing a cartoony animation at the moment. I am pretty happy with what i got so far, but there are still some things, which need to be sorted out. For example, i can not get the renderer to give me manga toon shading and shadows ... doh ... and i used square, flat elements, to decal my soundwords on them (since i have no sound, this is a must). But even set to cookie cut map, the give me these nasty edges, which i can not get rid of. No, it is not the picture file, having inconsistencys in the key colour, i doublechecked this! How do you like the crude style? Heiner
Heiner
Here one more pic, on which you see more of my "Little Space Cop" character. I am working on him quite a while now, and stll, there is a lot of work to do, but hey, they did not build rome in one day, or did they? Cheers Heiner
Admin Rodney Posted June 17, 2004 Admin Share Posted June 17, 2004 Heiner, I think you need to crank up one of the settings... I cannot recall which one. Maybe it was transparency.... drat.... can't remember. Right click on the decal and look for some setting that might do the job.
smudge
Very funky stuff (in a good way), Heiner. Here's some help with the toon renderer. -- with the sound FX; Try going into the models 'Surface' properties and changing the 'Line Thickness' in the 'Toon Line' properties to '0'. As far as the Toon shading goes, did you; A ) Have a klieg light to caste shadows with set up in your scene? B ) Are your 'Toon Shade' setting set up properly in you model's 'Surface' properties? C ) Do you have shadows turned 'On' in your renders? D ) Do you have 'Flat Shaded turned 'Off' in your model's 'Options' properties? These are just some of the culprits that come to mind. The two most likly are B or D. Hope this helps.

Iham Wrong
Everything is looking great so far. I really like the classic cartoon look, but if you want to punch it up a bit, take a look at one of your stills or post process some footage to black and white. B&W seems to allow you to focus better on the color levels and balance. Hey, I'd like to report a nefarious looking alien character named Vegis in the WIP sector. He was acting really suspicious.
