g3ellis Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 A long time ago, I used A:M for titling and some minor add-ons to video projects. I have a multi-media idea and think I can use the cricut for making a mold. I am talking 5-10mm in size. With the text to object feature, I can do personalized things. It is a challenge. I want cricut instead of a 3d printer because I can use a soluble mold. I do gemstone composites and have an idea. Sorry, no like to an example as FB url or non-https are not allowed. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted March 1, 2022 Hash Fellow Posted March 1, 2022 I had not heard of CriCut before this. So it's like a 2D cutter? Hmmm. What sort of files does it take as input? Quote
g3ellis Posted March 1, 2022 Author Posted March 1, 2022 CriCut takes .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .svg, or .dxf. I am pretty sure it will work. I was just wondering. Oh, and figured out that my ISP automatically allows https, so here is a picture of a composite. I am now doing layers and my latest represents the US flag. Very simple one. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted March 1, 2022 Hash Fellow Posted March 1, 2022 If a 2D image file like JPG or PNG will work... how about rendering out cross sections of your model? A:M can export a DXF but there seems to be some difference between a DXF that defines 3D shapes and a DXF that makes 2D images for a vector program and I did not have success importing an A:M DXF into a program like Adobe Illustrator. Welcome back to A:M! Quote
g3ellis Posted March 3, 2022 Author Posted March 3, 2022 I updated my web page to get the more complex. Layers... So I plan to see if I can create a mold and introduce features using my adhesive and additives like UV powder. Quote
