JackDrama Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Since Rodney posted the 1998 Actors at: https://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=46023 , I looked into an old A:M screencapture and found out there was another folder, which included "Anime" actors, and was seperate from the "Actors" folder itself. At first I wanted to use the "Seira" model, but later I thought there might be other A:M users, who are interested in Japanese animation and might like to use the other anime models too (if someone would like to upload them). And again, as they'll be mostly for inspiration and nostalgia decals and materials will not included, they can be uploaded if requested. Thanks! Quote
Admin Rodney Posted June 30, 2016 Admin Posted June 30, 2016 That must be in the version just prior to my CD (which has 98 imprinted on it with Avalanche's Meltdown character). Unfortunately, there is no Anime subfolder on the CD in my possession. It's interesting to see the tabs include items other than those currently available. I've often wished those could be customized. There are some actions that I haven't seen in ages... .act files that were created from motion capture. I'll have to check and see if those are still compatible with the 2001 rig. Edit: NOPE. Those actions aren't compatible w/ 2001 rig although I'm sure they could be made to be. The actions appear to be compatible with the Thom model from that era but not so much other models. Quote

Admin Rodney Posted June 30, 2016 Admin Posted June 30, 2016 Anyone recall what the picture on that CD is? I was under the impression the CD with the Meltdown character might have been the first to have a mascot character imprinted on it. The '98 Meltdown CD has v6 tutorials on it although those appear to be carried over from previous release. This was roughly the timeframe where Hash Inc applied the name Animation:Master to their MH3D product. I have a vague memory of another CD that preceded this one but I don't own it. Edit: I found this related info regarding the name change: After three years of our flagship product being named "Martin Hash's 3-Dimensional Animation", still more than half of the press mentions, and many of the customers refer to it as "Animation Master", (the name of our studio suite). We bow to the pressure - our 3D product will now be named "Martin Hash's Animation Master". The studio suite products: "Lip-Synch", Multiplane", and "NetRender" will simply be called "The Network Version" Past owners of the studio suite products will not be affected. Prices remain the same. This is off topic but while digging through the recesses of internet bits and bytes long abandoned I ran across a file I couldn't locate before... a description of the workings of the AVA format. I've updated it to the attached PDF file. Disclaimer: I don't know what if any changes to the AVA format may have been made after the publication of this information. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted June 30, 2016 Hash Fellow Posted June 30, 2016 I have found Seira, Guyst and Haruka on the KeeKat disk. I haven't tried loading them but you may and do report back to us if they are functional. AnimeCharacters.zip Quote
Admin Rodney Posted June 30, 2016 Admin Posted June 30, 2016 Nice sleuthing Robert. You are on a roll today. Interestingly, I don't ever recall seeing that Guyst character before. The file info says all three of these characters were created by Junya Ogihara. I believe the Haruka model has an updated version later than this one but I may be thinking of a different one. Quote
JackDrama Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Thank you for finding them, Robert. They look realy interesting. Quote
detbear Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I just saw this thread and was reminded of something I ran into recently. ALthough I can't remember where now I think its one of the training DVD's.... It shows a step through process of an Anime studio using A:M characters. It also shows live action reference for some of the shots. Really it's a "Stage by Stage" progression of the shots. If I remember right its somewhere of the 2005 siggraph training videos......I could be mistaken. Quote
