Simon Edmondson
http://www.odd.org.nz/instock.html I may have misunderstood but, they appear to have used a standard, single cutaway, type design and adopted it individually via a 3D printer. The big question is, "How do they play " ? If they are any good the purists going on about tonewoods and varnish finishes may get their noses out of joint... Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted June 1, 2013 Hash Fellow Share Posted June 1, 2013 I suppose as long at it's sufficiently rigid it may not matter what the body on an electric guitar is since the alteration of the sound by the pickups and the amp can be so enormous. Robert The purists will tell you that the different woods have a recognisable effect. I remain a touch sceptical about that as the amps and pups have such a pronounced impact on the sound. Dan electro guitars are made from what we know as MDF over here, which is about the cheapest wood you can get at the timber yard, yet they are quite reverred ? The recording artist "Seasick Steve" builds his out of old car parts such as hub caps and the man in the White Stripes used a plastic guitar. I'm hoping to get a metal bodied one built soon. Pigs might fly first though. regards simon
