I bet someone with a bit of coding expertise could make a "crowd wizard" for A:M

 

You'd give it a character, a set of actions (for example: start running, run, stop running, turn left, turn right), and it would apply those as needed to x characters to make them interact properly and avoid stationary obstacles.

 

I bet that could be done.
