Hi everyone,

It has been a long time since I posted in here and I haven't been doing any 3d art lately, even though my Animation Master subscription is still half year away from expiration date.

It's been a long and hard year for me since I've quit Art School because I don't have enough money to pay the fees. But lately I've been teaching myself some 2d design/concept in my freetime. To go straight to the point of my post, I would like to know you guys' feedbacks and crits of my work, please.

Okay here are some of my work. Some of them are only WIPs. If any of you guys are involved in the Digital Entertainment Industry feel free to give me pointers/crits and/or rip them apart. Everyone else can also give me your feedback. I appreciate any comments.

I also have a few questions. Is my skill level good enough for me to get a job? This is because I am desperate to get a job especially in concept design right now. Thanks.

If anyone cares my online gallery (with higher res images) is here.

Welcome back! Good looking drawings.

I would suggest pursuing more dynamic or storytelling poses in addition to the ones that "layout" the character.

I'd also suggest expanding to demonstrate more styles beyond the "anime" and also more kinds of objects. Props, cars, machines, animals, interiors, landscapes...

All I know about the animation design biz is that it's hard because studios typically don't need many people to fill their needs and there are gobs of people banging on their door.

Do you also do storyboarding? It's not any easier but it would be a logical extension of your talents since you can draw.

Nancy Beiman's "Prepare to Board" is a good survey of the animation design task, including storyboarding.

My suggestion would be to find someone who is making a low-budget short or film who needs what you do and do it for them even if they can't pay you. That would be a real, practical experience (better than school) that would show you can fulfill someone else's vision, which is what paid jobs are really all about.

I agree I don't have those kind of things that you mention in the stuff that I show. But I do have them, but not at the level of what I can say 'finished' and 'finalized' so now I have a reason I have to speed up the process of completing them.

Yes I have done some storyboarding too but stopped short of completing them. And thank you for the link that you have given me. Thank you for your valuable advice and pointers.

Excellent work although some of your anatomy is just slightly tweaked. I agree with Rob that your poses need to be more dynamic.

As someone who received a bachelors degree from an art college I think schools, especially mine, are overated but you will find artists from the other side of that position.
