"Painter of Light" dead at 54

Thomas Kinkade, perhaps the most widely loved/hated painter of our time has died.

 

It shall not be said that he didn't give every color a prominent place in his paintings.

Fun fact: Kinkade was a background painter on the Ralph Bakshi/Frank Frazetta animated feature "Fire and Ice"

James Gurney was the other background painter on Fire & Ice! Two kids just out of college--and Frank Frazetta tutoring them!!!

I absolutely loved Fire & Ice when it came out. Ahead of it's time if you ask me. Bakshi/Frazetta's work and all he worked with always impressed me.

 

Beautiful work... he will be missed.
