Dalemation
I`ve been experimenting with fog and dust on my spooky forest. However, I have tried the fog at various settings and all renders appear the same to me. Has anyone got any idea`s?
Iham Wrong
Have you tried a large volumetric light with a light shadow gel to make strange projected shadows? Might be a worth a try.
Dalemation
I haven`t tried it yet but I intend to. I want to get the fog sorted out first. This is another render without fog but with dust. Obviously the trees further back aren`t finished yet. They are images on two layers. If I add fog at different distances from the camera the renders appear identical to me. I must be doing something wrong.
DarkLimit
The first image looks good, I also did some expirements with dust and I find it works very well. Iham Wrong made a great surggestion that I have not tried either, but breaking up the fog really adds alot to the scene..... here are some renders I did in V8.5 just using dust as the base effect, then another pic using dust and volumetric lighting...... Dalemation
Those images look great Darklimit. That`s the sort of eerie atmosphere I want to get. The experiments I have done with dust work really well in an animation with a terbulence material added. I do prefer the first of my two images but I really need to see the more distant trees also. A solution may be to have the fog clear to reveal them during the shot. I will experiment more tonight with the fog and maybe also add a cookie image to the light that Iham Wrong mentioned. Iham Wrong
I attempted a few alpha blocks on the volumetrics. It's a bit flaky with some really strange results on negative lights. Has any one tried the alpha fog map since v8?
Dalemation
I`ve managed to adjust the fog at rendertime. Apparently Hash are looking into why it`s not possible to change it in the camera properties. Here is a new pic with volumetric light. I will finish and animate the scene now before I post again. Grubber
The forest looks really spooky! I almost see ghosts in it! Nice work!
