How to Remove Grainy Dithering from Shadows....

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am running A:M 15c on a Dual 2 Ghz PowerPC Apple G5. When I do multi-pass renders, my shadows are not smooth, but have a grainy, "dithered" look. I have attached an example pic:

What are the settings to make shadows more smooth?

Any help would be appreciated.

I am guessing you are using raytraced shadows. Try increasing the number of rays per light. Since you are using multipass rendering, you can opt to distribute the rays over multiple passes. I'm not sure what effect distributing the rays over passes will have on the graininess.

Okay. I'll give this a try. I also notcied that Yves said there was a Post-Effect that can smooth this out. Anyone know about this?
