Installing v13t - Need Help

Recommended Posts

This has to be one of the stupidest questions ever but I can't find a post that I made on the newbies forum. It was about upgrading A:M from v13 to v15. I'm pretty sure the last one to respond on the post was robcat. I searched for it everywhere but I couldn't find it. Can posts be deleted?

Thanks,

Masna

I don't know why it's not there.

They sell a 1 year license to v15 for $50 whether you own a current version or not so there isn't really an "upgrade price" anymore.

your old projects should load fine in it.

the last update to V13 was v13t which you can download and use if you are already using v13.

that's all i recall of my answer.

Unless the version tracking part o' my brain is broke I think you can find it here on Hash Inc's ftp site: ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows

Download and install the AM2006.exe file located in the AM2006 folder.

Once finished check via A:M's Help menu to see what version it has installed.

You may be able to install and run this file so give it a try first:

ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows/Am2007/v13/

If it installs but asks for a CD you don't have... you have an older subscription version and need to install from the 2006 folder.

Thanks for the link Rodney... As you may have guessed from previous situations i'm horrible when it comes to anything having to do with the word "Computer". I found the file AM2007.EXE, but where do I save it onto my computer? I'm very hisitant to do anything due to the risk of me completely messing my computer and or A:M.

AM2007.exe is just the setup file, so you can put it onto your desktop, or in a folder called for example "internet downloads", or anywhere. You then double click it to run it, which runs the installation process, which distributes all the program files into a folder called Program Files\Hash Inc\v1?.?, which you shouldn't touch, generally.

You can then delete AM2007.exe because it is not part of the installed programs.

Just for info, if you are using Windows, the installation also adds items to the "windows registry". The registry holds settings and options for programs, like what were the most recently used files. That is why you must use "uninstall" to get rid of a program, and not just delete it, otherwise you will leave all the registry information there.

BTW, I've found it useful to save a copy of every installer I download. So, for example, whe TSM2 stopped working in v13o I could still go back to v13n if I needed to use it.

Of course, you have to rename it to include a version number before you save it.

*Phew* I succesfully updated A:Mv13 to A:Mv13t. Should I now uninstall A:Mv13? Or should I keep it there just in case the new version crashes for whatever reason?

The new AM13 should have overwritten your old V13 so you should only have one V13 on your computer now. If you uninstall you'll be getting rid of the one you have.
